Comments Thread For: Chavez Jr: I'm Close to Weight Already; Still Could Make 160

When Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. agreed to challenge Canelo Alvarez at a catch weight of 164 pounds, their weigh-in became almost as intriguing as their fight. Chavez has had well-documented difficulties making weight, even when he competed at the super middleweight limit of 168 pounds. The 31-year-old Chavez (50-2-1, 32 KOs, 1 NC) hasn't fought at a weight this low since he lost a middleweight title fight to Sergio Martinez 4 years ago, either.

He looks good and probably is at 165-166?? He's doing a lot of cardio

Nacho and Memo are actually gooing to pull this off??? Holy SHT!!! Now if I can find 10-1 odds or better I'll dump some $$$$ on Chavez.

Invite 7 friends over and have them chip in $10. Provide the food and beer... Problem solved. AND it's CINCO DE MAYO WEEKEND!!!!

he can make weight cause he is training hard for a big fight, if he wins its a big thing.

if he was fighting john norman from ireland whos 23-4, making weight would be more of a problem.

hope canelo is training hard cause i rate chavex jr. he is limited but a good fighter. he can punch.

Damn! Between Chavez/Canelo this month and Ward/Kov next month I'm going to have to make some extra income on betting on the winners...

Canelo BETTER take Chavez seriously. Chavez has a very good chin, decent power, and is much, much bigger. I bet Canelo is wearing elevator shoes and still can't come close to Chavez height. Canelo is 5' 7"
