  • If GGG v Canelo doesn't happen, then there's no reason at all this rematch shouldn't happen next.

Unless Chavez Jr beats Canelo, then i could see why GGG v Chavez might make sense financially more than a Jacobs rematch.

If Canelo wins or the fight is good enough to warrant a rematch and the GGG fight looks like a no go, then i'll be disappointed if GGG doesn't give Jacobs the rematch, and i say that as a GGG fan.

And I could see the argument. I just don't see the world in black and white. Outside of Canelo a Jacobs rematch would be my preference. But I would be willing to accept fights against quality opponents or fights that are meaningful like a unification fight, a fight against a mandatory if it is against a quality fighter such as Jermall Charlo after he beats Heiland, or capturing a title at 168 once GGG can't comfortably make 160.

In today's very tribalistic boxing world with a lot of divas getting paid ridiculous amounts of money to fight no-hopers we should just be happy if quality fights get made. We shouldn't tear down any fight that isn't the exact fight we want.

So tell me what the excuse will be when he fights another good opponent? You gonna say you were surprised how well they did against lil g? Please give me your excuse now before he fights a real competitor. Those are FACTS! Peace.
OK. I understand now. You don't know the difference between a fact and an opinion. Now you are mixing facts and opinions, but YOUR INITIAL POST WAS ALL OPINION! That's what my initial comment was about.

Dude - I'm not even a fan of GGG. I respect him...as I respect any of these boxers who f&cking fight for a living while you and I type. But people come on these boxing threads just to wave their d!cks around because they're unable to do it in real life....what a joke. In your initial comment that was all about "FACTS" you were the d!ck-waver...as is anyone who needs to type FACTS in all caps. It's like Sean ****er's use of the word "period." A complete joke.

Dude I'v been in that ring and haven't kept going as long as I wanted cuz of job-lay-offs to keep paying for gym time and now I have work that doesn't go with the gym schedule....and the only reason I get in here is to catch all the fake fans/journalist/promoters with there bias/agenda remarks and if lil g don't end up fighting canelo in Sept. then it proves my statement was a FACT cuz there aint no excuse for the fight NOT to happen in Sept. His promoter said team lil g said he was hurt so they couldn't fight "bily joe who" so if he is hurt where do you think it happened fell down the stairs? Just put 1 & 2 together. You should stop sweatin the caps and stop tryin to debunk me cuz it aint gonna work, prove is in all the videos and interviews.....and I think you are lying...you are a lil g fan.....PEACE.

Big respect for being in the ring.

I thought your "out of commission" statement was not factual for several reasons. We may not know the real reason that Golovkin is not fighting Billy Joke this summer. Sure...they said injury...but why would you believe that? There could be any number of reasons (e.g., not worth risking injury and potentially derailing the biggest money fight of his career...that may not come around again). Putting 1 and 2 together only works if 1 and 2 are the whole truth and nothing but.

So if GGG does not fight until September, it will be a layoff of right around 5 months. That's not much of layoff....I don't think it counts as being "out of commission." But you're right...we'll know much more once September gets here.

As for whether I am truly a GGG fan...I do watch his fights (like I watch all fights of significance), but I don't get emotionally invested in them. I like that GGG seems to treat opponents with respect both before and after fights. If he lost, though, I wouldn't lose any sleep over it. To be honest, my favorite boxer of the last 10 or so years has been Cotto. In light of how poorly his career has been managed since fighting Canelo and all the terrible things so many people have said about him over the past few years, why would I admit to that if it weren't true? I've got no reason to lie about who I like or don't like.

            PEACE.

Thank you sir, I wish I did boxing in my teens but football is my #1 sport and I got in boxing late but I'm nice...in football I was better, could of gone Pro.......as for lil g I just don't like the fake hype all around him. The boy can punch but that's about it. Cotto is a solid fighter and has a solid resume, better than any thing lil g can do with solid contenders. We can debate if we catch each other on another topic. Peace.
