  • Comments Thread For: Erislandy Lara Says Demetrius Andrade Priced Himself Out

According to WBA, IBO junior middleweight champion Erislandy Lara (24-2-2, 14 KOs), he was looking forward to facing Olympian Demetrius Andrade (24-0, 16 KOs), but claims the fight fell apart over money. Andrade captured the WBA's "regular" version of the world title when he traveled to Germany last month to win a twelve round decision over Jack Culcay.

Wonder what the money details are that are "too much". Lara seems to be getting $1M-$1.5M for his fights. How much could Andrade be asking for that's "too much". Or is Lara expecting a bump up to so Andrade asking for more don't really work?

Either way wtf just f#cking figure it out & f#cking fight. Always with this marinating & money bs. Its boxing...f#cking box top guys.

Love Andrade, but unless they are trying to offer some nonsense like 100k or something than he just needs to take the fight. Hes ****ed off to much at this point and he needs a real fight. Lara is that fight.

Well Jermell Charlie just made 100K last weekend so I can't imagine they're offering much more than that.

Lara trying to duck out in his mandatory with the good ole he's pricing himself trick. This would be more acceptable if Lara wasn't getting paid millions to fight retired welterweights in front of a half empty arena. With just in attendance receiving free tickets to be there.

With the current state of PBC, I don't think Lara made the same amount in the Foreman fight. It would have been stupid to pay Lara $1 mil for that fight.

I see Lara trying to make excuses to veer off Andrade and go in the direction of Hurd. Question is what makes him think Hurd won't demand the same money Andrade was asking? I heard Harrison rejected Decubas' offer after Lara's Vanes fight.

Lara will always be seen as a high risk low reward fighter. He'll end up being put on the shelf for the rest of the year if he insist on not making any adjustments.
