Comments Thread For: Anthony Joshua Sees No Reason To Fight in U.S. To Raise Profile

The rude health of the British boxing scene has convinced heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua he does not have to go Stateside to increase his global profile. Joshua is less than a week away from the biggest fight of his career against Wladimir Klitschko at Wembley in front of a post-war British record crowd of 90,000.

Vegas is boring tbh and the event seems so sanitised and dull.

It would be nice if there was something a bit different an African bout sounds good.

I can respect and understand what Joshua is saying. He's not saying that he doesn't want to come to America. What he's saying is that things have changed now where I remember when Lennox Lewis fought here and became a bigger star. But at the moment the UK boxing scene (no pun intended) is on fire right now. They are doing well financially, where as in the past you can only make money in America, now since the UK is booming he doesn't have to fight frequently in America such as Lennox did to raise his profile and make money.
You heard him say he wants to fight in Las Vegas and Africa. The right opportunities would have to present themselves and he's right. Such as a Joshua vs Wilder fight.

I understand what he's saying. I'm good with it and I agree with what he's saying.

Why would he fight in America for less money? Pro boxing is a business, you fight where the most money is.

If you can sell out a 90 thousand seater stadium 40 mins from where you grew up fighting across the world does become less important I agree

If you are big enough then nope. If Wlad could leave Germany and come to AJ then anyone can. Am all for going to the states to prove yourself, and I always commend Brits that do this, but in some cases you wouldn't have to, especially if your competitions are not really that big in America.

If he becomes the fighter people think he might be then he should definitely fight in the US. And Japan. And Africa. Europe. Everywhere.

There was a time when this was normal for the top boxers to travel the world and showcase your talents to different audiences.

Anthony Joshua is actually saying this:
I see no reason to fight in the U.S as I will be denied a visa anyway due to my previous drug dealer convictions.

Nice job trying to convince people that there is no need to fight in the US for fighters to be recognized..we all know why you cant travel to the US
