British boxing is thriving atm, Joshua is fighting in front of 90,000 fans next week. Do you think the gate would be that big in America? I don't.
British fans are some of the best in the world they get behind their boxers and are nowhere near as fickle or *****y as other nations.
All Joshua is saying is that there's no need to fight elsewhere and he's correct.Comment

The U.K. has a real bad history of fighters getting jobbed by refs.and judges. He is scared to leave his little circle and fight in the mecca of boxing.Comment

Why does the U.K. think they are thriving so much? They have 5 current champs to the U.S. is 12 which is about what the U.S. averages. They just have dumb fans who support their guy no matter what and go to any fight. Same with referees and judges it's been like this for years.Last edited by KING5TWENTY; 04-24-2017, 01:06 AM.Comment

He probably doesn't need to these days when you consider there's probably more money in the British fight game these days unless you're someone like Mayweather and have a dance partner like Manny.
America has a HW champ in Wilder and nobody cares really, he's virtually unknown outside of people who really follow the sport. If Wilder had the attention HW champs of the past had, this would be a huge fight in the USA but it would be far bigger in the UK these days.
Different times. Being HW champ of the world counts for very little these days. Maybe because USA have had very little success in the HW game in the past 10-15 years as they haven't really produced anyone good and the Klitschko's had dominated and it was the same for them, they didn't need to really leave Germany/Europe very often as they were selling out stadiums and raking in the money.Comment

The reason I said the UK scene is thriving is simply based on the number of people going to watch fights. Facts don't lie, a big show in England sells out in hours, if only that happened in the states, but it doesn't.Comment

You could be right, but then he starts getting into the territory of how much money do you really need? All depends on what his long range goals are.He makes a lot of ££ from sponsorships though. Imagine if he was known in the US as well as the UK?
He would be crazy not to get himself established as a name in the US imo.
I would take the Wilder fight in the US as he might not get another chance in his career to fight a US HW title holder in the US. It wouldnt make as much money in the short term. But the long term benefits would be worth itComment
