I totally dismissed this fight at first but that ^ type of thing is what's got me intrigued now. Would be a hell of a fight if they can implement a gameplan that'll play off Shawn's tendency to just push forward like a linebacker. A good test for Berto as a fighter as well as a test for Hunter as a trainer.

Definitely. It worked really well against Thurman, but Brook took full advantage of Porter's tendency to smother his own work. If Porter could ever clean up his technique he could be a pretty damn good fighter. Look how far he's gotten with sloppy technique.

I'd be stunned if Berto takes advantage, though. He just isn't good enough. He'll make Porter's pressure look great.

Porter smothers his own work, yes its been a flaw of his for years and it will likely continue to be one

but wtf is porter wearing? the white elbow guards on the jacket?

Yea, I see it going down the same way as the Alexander fight. And there's 2 fighters who are so similar in a lot of ways – Berto and Alexander. Both are slick jabbers who never use their power hand enough; both yelp a lot when jabbing air; both are tough and damn near impossible to hurt; both have flat, immobile footwork with too wide a stance; both run out of ideas as a fight goes past a few rounds; both always come up short in their biggest fights...

Berto is right. Porter's pressure is not that effective. He just smothers himself..

For a guy that used to be Pac's main sparring partner, porter is lacking.

He can walk through pillow punchers like Malignaggi but against his own size, ive never been impressed.

                Berto can beat this guy.

This bout is eerily reminiscent of Porter's bout with Adrien Broner. Actually it's a redux of the Porter/Broner bout. It's the same bad style match up as before. Neither Adrien Broner or Andre Berto has the ability to punch or move well enough to keep Porter honest, from rushing in and mauling them both while fighting on the inside. The only difference is Berto is a lot more active with his punches has a much higher workrate, not as defensively sound and eats more punches than Broner .

Porter is a big betting favorite for good reason. He only has two close losses to two of the best welterweights in the world. Berto has many losses and a KO loss and he lost to some guys who weren't very good. Off of their records it's hard not to expect Porter to win.
