Comments Thread For: Gilberto Ramirez: Hold in Place

By Cliff Rold - After an injury kept him on the shelf for most of a year, 25-year old WBO super middleweight titlist Gilberto Ramirez (34-0, 24 KO) of Mexico will finally get to make the first defense of his title. Relatively few will likely see it, coming on a Top Rank independent pay-per-view on Saturday night (9 PM EST/6 PM PST). That's okay. It's a small show not meant to capture a wide audience...

For someone who has been on the shelf for as long as he has, is this a mandatory defense?
If not who is his mandatory and why is the mandatory not getting a shot?

While he waits for GGG, Zurdo can fight Jesse Hart and David Benavidez! Those could be decent matchups to display his skills. HBO needs those kind of fights!

a very mediocre show and this is ppv that should be out in the field somewhere where people can just walk up to it and watch it... the 168 division is not a strong division especially since Jack is moving up

Great career decision to sign with Arum. No name opponents on PPV with 10 people watching.

Who in the world is going to pay to watch this???

This card was an automatic "Boxing after dark" or "Championship Boxing" card that showcases 3 young possible players back in the day... a shame HBO has to pay John Snow all that dough doe.

Anyway, "Zurdo" has the look to be a star but everything else is still up in the air as far as his future. He did beat the original GEE though (Abraham)

It's definitely an interesting card. No way do people pay for it though.

His last fight was on the Pacquiao vs. Bradley PPV. Nobody is seeing this guy fight. Don't understand how they're trying to build his profile fighting him on low selling PPV's
