Vargas needs to take the rest of the year off to fully heal his cuts try and see a plastic surgeon to remove some the scar tissue that keeps reopening. Come back with a soft touch and then go after big fights. Everyone said Gatti was done in 1998 because of continuous bad cuts and facial swelling. Took almost a full year off to really heal and went on to fight till 2007, won another world title, got numerous big fights and gave boxing one of the best trilogies of all time retired basically a decade after everyone said his career was over.

Vargas will be back and fans will alway want to see him fight. So don't rush it.

Finally a smart move by the trainer.....

Vargas will get a much needed rest so that his body can completely heal. I would also recommend that the first two fights back be against lighter fisted and limited opposition opponents. Fight individuals ranked in top 20.

Vargas is done, as for Gatti he was over rated who never beat anyone of name. Yes he won another title but he won a vacant title against a nobody. Who did Gatti beat? An old Jesse James Leija, a Gabriel Ruelas who wasn't the same after killing someone in the ring or a weak as Ward who him himself never beat anyone of note. I don't even know how Gatti is in the Hall of Fame.
