Comments Thread For: Francisco Vargas' Trainer Wants Him To Rest Until 2018

Thinking ahead, trainer Guillermo Becerril does not want former world champion Francisco 'Bandido' Vargas to enter the ring for the remainder of 2017. He wants the fighter to stay on the shelf, take a much needed rest and properly heal his wounds - and then return with renewed vigor in 2018. Vargas lost his WBC super featherweight title this past January, when he was stopped by big puncher Miguel Berchelt. It was a bloody fight, where Vargas took a a lot of punishment and suffered very severe cuts.

Nobody put a gun to his head but I do feel that GBP used him wrong. They did him dirty by matching up a young fighter against killer after killer.

This dude is going to have a very short career.

Nothing better for damaged skin than a coat of rust? I hope Vargas saved some money.

Vargas needs to do what Lucas is doing and bring in an additional trainer to his team.

His trainer has taken Vargas as far as he can. Bring in Manny Robles, Robert Garcia, Freddie Roach, or Joel Diaz to bring in a new perspective.

Vargas has very good boxing skills yet he allows himself to be put in toe to toe battles when it's not necessary.

Take a break then come back stronger.

He wanted those fights. After salido fight golden boy said they wanted him to take a long rest then come back with a soft touch. Problem is if he did that it would of been a small fight on ****** or a under card fight for less money. He wanted a HBO headline fight and HBO would only pay if it was against a top fighter. His team wanted that. Look at matthysee and look at Sadam Ali other guys coming off a loss or injury and they take a long time or come back with a soft touch. All signed with golden boy. Promoters don't make fighters fight they give a fighter options and he chooses. Golden Boy made it known they wanted to go another route with a easy fight. Berchelt was all vargas.
