I remember watching Wlad on TV in 2003-2004 and seeing him get drilled by Brewster and flop around like a dying fish, and I remember saying right then and there: "This lad is no Vitali. This lad just don't have it in him. And he never will."

It wasn't the glass chin that bothered me vs Brewster. It was the mental weakness that Wlad showed- as soon as something doesn't go his way, he falls apart with a look of despair and anguish on his face, starts clinching like an Octopus, and can't adjust.

And I knew that no matter how many bum wins he racks up, as soon as he gets into a situation that he can't control, that mental weakness is going to show up again.

And Lo and behold, that is exactly what happened vs Fury. After all this "Wise Old Guy" talk in the build-up, the supposed "Doctor" and "Experienced Champion" was too petrified to let a single right hand go for 10 rounds in an embarrassing display of mental weakness.



Once a mental weakling, always a mental weakling. You either have it, or you don't. Wlad's mental weakness will show up again vs Joshua. Joshua is no Pulev, or Wach, or Ray Austin. Joshua is a TERMINATOR.

I agree with this here. And funny that you mentioned that fight as it is the last great Heavyweight fight until this Joshua-Klitschko fight. I actually just finished watching the Lewis-Klitschko fight a few minutes ago.

What I noticed was as the fight got into the 5th and 6th rounds Lewis was coming on. Beat up Vitali's body with those right hands he was hitting him with in a clinch. He must have hit him with like 8 punches in a row to the body while in that clinch.

The uppercut in the 6th and right hand to the temple particularly had Klitschko stumbling forward hurt. That was a good fight.

But more important than that and more to your point.
Vitali Klitschko quit against Chris Byrd. Chris Byrd of all people he quit against with a messed up shoulder. He would've won that fight even with one arm. There was nothing Chris Byrd could do to hurt him. Byrd was the smallest Heavyweight in the division.

I agree that Wladimir Klitschko fights scared. With the grabbing and holding tactics. When he's been in tough fights and in trouble he panics. His brother is tougher than him. Though I think Vitali had a breaking point too. Just at a higher threshold than his brother Wladimir.

The thing is the Klitschko's reigned in the worst era of the Heavyweight division, void of depth, talent and competition. That is why they were so dominant. There was no one to fight.

And I'm not a fan of Grabamir Clinchko with his jab and grab, holding and leaning on, holding and leaning on. I'm done with him. I won't miss him when he's gone.
