Yep. This. It's widely known among all boxing circles that Bailey was seen taking an IV of an unknown concoction prior to the fight, along with a host of pills and not to mention shooting up something that was witnessed by someone in Huerta's camp. Plus Huerta was really living check to check at the time and needed the cash, so he agreed to throw the fight.
Pat had all the tools in the toolbox to become boxing's next great star after Brian Sutherland but like Brian, a thing called life got in the way unfortunately and ****** the life out of a once prosperous career that could have been one of the best the sport has ever seen.
Life isn't fair, that's the example in Sutherland's and Huerta's respective cases that will show young men all across the globe that just because you have all the talent and skill in the world doesn't automatically mean success in the end as far as the sport of the sweet science goes...but yet still they were both successful fathers and family men who for the most part stayed away from trouble (both had several brief stints in jail but nothing major), only a small handful of divorces between them (6 total), fathered many children (27 children combined), and both reached the assistant manager plateau at their respective Dominoes Pizza branches in the end
so yeah it just goes to show that you can still lead successful, meaningful, impactful lives without being the once dominant alpha male boxing stars that they once were...very much like Mike Tyson although of course to a much smaller degreeComment

Oh and by the way, another little known fact of this bout is that Bailey's camp insisted on 32 ounce gloves for Huerta, had any one of those shots from those mesmerizing combinations that Huerta was firing landed with regular gloves it would've been lights out for BaileyComment

every little bit helps, brian is very appreciative
I still admire Brian and look up to him, he truly is a role model; last week he got pretty good tips Friday night and we bought a bag of shards and got iced out all night off that A-side meth
good timesComment
