Maybe he's counting on knocking Ward out in the first half of the fight.....
sorry but you have no idea what you are talking about. he's in his 30's unless he has some strange physiologycal condition, he should be able to improve his strength and power output, anaerobic threshold, vo2max,etc,etc any sports scientist should be able to do it.

Kov.is gonna punish Ward for his misdeeds and not being an honorable man!

His God is saved this karma for him for fighting his former promoter who gave him a shot at the big time at the super six and still took him to court on his deathbed, the man has no integrity!

Judges are affected by what goes on outside the ring. No matter if some fans thought Ward won the first fight, most of the boxing media didn't. That means the narrative going into the rematch is, "Was the first fight a gift, or can Ward win convincingly this time and prove he deserves to be champ?" Right or wrong, the onus will be on Ward to do more this time and if the rematch is similar to the first fight, Kovalev will get the decision.

The potential for stamina isn't some well you can continually draw from. Some guys just have less stamina than others. The guy you quoted is right, it's not likely that Kovalev will be able to extend his cardio in his 30's. Especially when Kovalev already says he trained too hard. His best bet with the specialist is to get the timing right, so that he peaks at an optimal time.

The other thing that will help his stamina is not getting punched in the body.

I didn't say he couldn't improve at all, just not to extreme levels cardio wise. Plus I'm pretty sure he trained hard for the first fight in hopes of winning in dominating fashion. It's not a knock against him, more like a reality check.
Kov has also been a high level athlete for a long time I doubt he can reinvent the wheel cardio wise in one training camp..........

Training "too hard" won't get you anywhere, training smart will. his previous coach didn't know a anything about peeking, supercompensation, maximal strength training, periodization, etc. Believe me, i've seen guys in their 30's improve stamina, power, strength, etc with the right training. kovalev doesn't even look like he trains.
James degale was 30 years old when he started his strength and conditioning training with a real coach, he said he felt stronger all around, like a new fighter. You have no idea what a new stimulus means for an athlete

I favor Ward in second fight.....

I stated before I wanted Ward to fight 4 times before fighting Kov because I still saw ring rust. I don't think that'll be there in this fight vs the first and with a year of acclimation to the weight I see a better performance against Kov even with better conditioning. Ward has Shieldstone as a conditioning coach which I expect Ward to be in even better shape this time around. I look for Ward to press the action from start to finish and simply outwork Kov.

No, Kovalev is not going to be a "new fighter". It's not like he's just now joining a gym. He's been a high level boxer doing what high level boxers do for years.

As I said, I think it's a positive and he'll be likely to peak more timely. Really though, the whole "I was training wrong all these years and now in really going to be in shape" (in my 30's) is a tired refrain in combat sports. I can't count the number of times I've heard this and it failed to produce anything. James DeGale being the most recent.

you are mixing things up, conditioning has nothing to do with skills.
