I sort of think Canelo is just going to unload combos on this ****'s body all night. No way do you have to be as slick as Martinez to beat Chavez, you just have to not be a bum.

Valid points...we definitely need the fight soonMaybe you are right, but you know we've seen so many times where size actually overcame the more skillful fighter. For example I thought the difference in Cotto-Margarito I was Margarito's size and stamina - in hindsight it was also the loaded gloves but loaded gloves don't give you stamina, size and a chin like that -, but Cotto had the better skills.
They're pretty much just exercising. This training camp is nothing but a glorified work out for a big chubby boy to get down to a certain weight. Weight Watchers. The fight is already won in the gym, training. Chavez Jr getting in the ring will just be where he officially earns his check.
Can I be wrong and Chavez Jr comes to fight and push Canelo to his limits, and maybe even win? Yeah, and that would obviously be the best thing that can happen for boxing after Jacobs came to win against GGG, and now if Chavez Jr comes to win vs Canelo both Canelo and GGG will have been pushed and will maybe want to fight each other ASAP after feeling more vulnerable.Comment

Factors to consider, will Chavez have enough in the tank to last the twelve rounds after cutting the weight? And will Canelo be able to carry his weight he is going up almost 10 pounds more than he has ever weighed in at. We all know how good a chin jr has, how well can Canelo take a punch at this weight? Will canelos stamina be affected? I mean there is so much to take a look at that it just makes this fight a very intriguing one. I def look forward to it and just hope both fighters produce a good show! It's neededMaybe you are right, but you know we've seen so many times where size actually overcame the more skillful fighter. "Weight drain" has been one of the most overused and overrated terms in boxing since the Pac-DLH fight. DLH wasn't weight drained by making 147. DLH was weight drained because like a dumbass, he tried to rehydrate after HBO's ridiculous fight night weigh-in. In the other examples you used. Dawson wasn't weight drained. He rehydrated and entered the ring over 180lbs. He just got his ass kicked by a superior fighter. And the Jones-Tarver situation was completely different. Tarver was like a fourth option for Roy after several heavyweight opponents fell through. That fight was basically signed six or seven weeks before they fought. And Roy entered camp a muscled up 200lbs with very little body fat. There's not a healthy way to lose that much muscle mass in any period of time. Losing it over six, seven weeks is borderline suicide.I think people are just concerned with the weight. I guarantee the odds would be a lot different, and the predictions for Chavez Jr would be higher if the fight was at 166-168lbs. It's just pretty much the weight, people think Chavez Jr will be dead, flat and ineffective. When people see fights like Jones-Tarver I, DLH-Pac, Ward-Dawson, they're reminded how serious weight can be in boxing. This will be another case like those.
in this fight, Jr has had ample time to shed the weight properly. And unlike Roy, he's not losing solid muscle. He's losing a lot of fat. Ricky Hatton routinely entered camp over 180lbs and would make 140 rather easily. I work a physical job and in these hot TN summers, its nothing for me to lose 10-15lbs in a week. And Mon morning after the weekend, its all gained back. Jr will be fine.Comment

I thought Canelo walks around 180-190??? How come they don't call him weight drained when he makes 154 on OFFICIAL scales??? Or he's bigger than GGG but ggg has the problem coming down below 160??? And says anyone from 154-168."Weight drain" has been one of the most overused and overrated terms in boxing since the Pac-DLH fight. DLH wasn't weight drained by making 147. I agree 100% with your definition.Comment

Always bet on the better fighter, this time its easy Canelo is far superior when it comes to boxing
Plus nelo aint small at all. He might be shorter but stronger.
About Jr reach, he doesnt use it and Lara, cintroin had longer reach.. Trout had similar reach.
Also im not sold on jr work ethic he might be motivated but he is still waking up late even in the otomi center hahahaComment

I'm not sure Jr is going to make it down to 164.5 I don't know how many millions he will have to give up but I'd be shocked if he came in on weight. That'd show some real discipline and seriousness on Jr's behalf.
And like what was said let's not act like Jr wasn't making 60 then rehydrating up to 180lbs on fight night not all that long ago he's just been to lazy to get down that far and he's no longer in his 20's so we'll see if he can win that battle firstComment

Because he's only 26 years old and about 5'7 1/2 so he's not doing anything but coming down to around the weight he should be at..
even though Canelo's weight can go up to 180lbs+ that's still not a healthy weight for Canelo's frame. In reality he should only be about 170-175lbs..
Chavez Jr on the other hand in his 30's and is 6'1. Given his height and age now. He should be about 187-205lbs naturally.. so getting down to 164 is weight draining for his large frame...
The ? for me is.. is Chavez's body still young enough to rehydrate back to a healthy weight by fight night? you know Canelo's team will want the weigh in to be as late in the day as possible.Last edited by Realizniguhnit; 04-18-2017, 07:06 PM.Comment

Can't argue there. You got everything right... Even Canelo's height. Canelo always comes in under 175 on fight night. Usually 171-174??? But you already know this. He would sacrifice speed for very lil power if he went much higher than that.Because he's only 26 years old and about 5'7 1/2 so he's not doing anything but coming down to around the weight he should be at..

I would tell him F the 1st $1-2 million and come in what makes you feel good. He still will pocket at least $6-8++...I'm not sure Jr is going to make it down to 164.5 I don't know how many millions he will have to give up but I'd be shocked if he came in on weight.
