What makes you a fan of...

What makes you a fan of a boxer/fighter?

What qualities draw you to a fighter that results you becoming a fan? What makes you support them, watch all their fights, start threads, defend them on forums, take them balls deep in your throat, work the pipe and swallow the gravy?

Do you prefer skills? Power? Technique? Ring IQ? Sexual preference? Skin colour? Favourite cheese?

Personally, nothing makes me a fan of a fighter more than absolute professionalism and dedication to the sport. Dudes not ballooning in between fights, dudes making sacrifices, living like athletes, maximizing absolutely every shred of talent he has, because if done correctly, boxing is a short career, so somebody who's able to dedicate themselves to it for 20 odd years, is somebody who earns my respect. I honestly I can't get behind somebody who doesn't at least TRY to be as great an athlete as they possibly can. That's why Chris Algieri is one of my favourite active boxers, despite him being virtual garbage.

Kovalev; ability to generate such power in quick, crisp shots. Hearns is a favorite for the same reason.
Ward; very cerebral. Constantly thinking, analyzing.
Pac; marches right into the fire.
Calzaghe; always willing to work harder than the other guy to get the win.
    M. Garcia; technical discipline merged with power.

There isn't one quality or attribute that attracts me to a fighter. I like them all equally but I do respect those that take the time to master skills. I do tend to hate all boxers positioned as "all american" or "goodie 2 shoes" and given the fake good guy image like SRL, ODH and Manny.

I prefer a well-rounded fighter who leans more towards offense. A boxer/puncher type who takes on tough challenges, fights the best of their respective divisions, and gives the fans their money's worth. Of the current generation of fighter's I favor Roman Gonzalez, Lomachenko, Spence, and Charlo. Well rounded fighters who fight to win convincingly, not cautious fighters whose ultimate goal is to win by UD every fight.

I'm not a fan of trash talking, but so long as it is honest, real and not excessive or in poor taste I can overlook it. Thurman and Loma seem to keep it real in their talk; but I don't approve of the type of trash talk from guys like Fury, Broner, Hopkins, Kovalev, etc.

          Preach.

Massive fan of both boxers, precisely for these reasons.

You aren't fooling anyone by omitting Mayweather, you fl0mo.

Why don't you tell us why he's your favorite?

We all know why but why don't you tell us?

A multitude of factors, so I voted for all of them except for that last one.

At the end of the day, the fighters that win me over are the one who reach for greatness.

Take Loma, I was one of his most vocal critics after the Salido fight (I still believe he is a bit of a pansy) BUT his skills were neevr in doubt. What I wanted t osee from him was some damn fighting instinct and he showed that. In almost all his fights since, he has wanted to finish opponents off, he has shown that "**** you, ima KO" attitude. I like that. He is also continuously spekaing about fighting the top guys and just come off of fighting Walters and Sosa.

He now wants Mikey and TC and seems more confident in that than they do lol

I dont think he beats either guy but he is slowly converting me to his cause.

                Agreed.

I can't stand that fake good guy image myself. I do however, like guys who are clean cut, and presentable. Ie Ward, AJ, Froch, etc.

I can't stand guys who pander to demographics when it suits them. ODH with his recent wall smashing BS is an example of such.
