I know allot about Muhammad ali. Or else i would not make this threadWhy not read all the material you can find on the man and then have an educated idea why so many think highly of him.
Also start by spelling his name correctly, then readers here would be more interested in reading your posts.
Good luck on gathering up information on the Champ it's all on the net.

Well, there's no denying what he did inside the ring - one of the greatest to ever do it.
But outside the ring, not so much.
The only reason he gets away with his comments about race, is because he is black. If a White man said: "blue birds with blue birds, red birds with red birds... " and "you wouldn't want your sons and daughters race-mixing..."
He would have been shunned by the media, his fights boycotted, and denied HoF entry.
This is the double standard of race in society today. There's some things Blacks can get away with, that Whites can't.
I don't think Ali was a racist, and I think his views on race are pretty normal, and most people secretly agree with him..Comment

Haha nelson mandela? He is a fraud. The true hero was MLK and even he said that ali was a racistBecause Muhammad Ali believed in himself , he won the fight that no one thought he could win, he moved like a lightweight being a heavyweight, he was an entertainer, he would do magic tricks, he would fool the interviewers, he give away the best years of his career to defend his believes, he spoke what he thought despite what could happen to him in a time where black men couldn't speak their thoughts, when his physical prime was ending, he won against monsters based on heart, he had wisdom and any person that met him personally would agree that he was just an special individual.
When people like Nelson Mandela says that Ali was something else, you better believe it.
And talking about boxing only, there wouldn't be a Tyson, Leonard, Ward, Davis Jr., Breland, Holmes, an entire generation of heavyweights, Berto, Jones, Lomachenko and probably 9 of every 10 boxers that live trough the sport, wouldn't been in the gym without the inspiration of Ali and i included myself.
See the documentary Facing Ali so you can see how even his opponents can't deny the impact of the man.Comment

How do you feel about his views on race-mixing?He played his part in the civil rights movement. Ain't no Vietcong...???.
Rumble in the jungle. Underdog vs the unbeatable young beast.
It's the fact that he got his just dues when he started to lose his faculties that gets to me & many others.
Read a biography of his, it's cheap on the app stores or watch a documentary of his on youtube.
Everything else equal regarding boxing achievements... Do you think if a White boxer publicly said what he said, he would be revered like Ali is today?Comment

It comes from partisanship, ignorance, lack of intellectual honesty and racial hatred. Mostly it's pure ignorance as the majority of his admirers know next to nothing of his actual history.
The reality is that Ali was a low-IQ pawn of a racist, murderous cult. The Nation of Islam at that time taught that white people were not created by god, but were creations of an evil wizard. They were/are Black Supremacists. They were much worse back then than they are even today. They also killed (black) children.
Elijah Muhammed was the leader of the NOI for 40 years. He was your standard evil cult leader. He preached hatred, impregnated his followers' early teen daughters, ordered the murders of people who dared to leave the cult... you get the idea. Ali was his puppet and dupe.
Imagine if a white athlete had once belonged to a hate group that murdered the families of those that crossed them. Imagine if this white athlete's mentor was a child rapist, baby killer and evil cult leader. Is there any way this white athlete would be considered anything beyond a piece of human garbage? Yet Ali is considered a saint.
Anytime Ali showed courage by being on the "correct" side of a social issue, it was on the orders of Elijah Muhammed. For example, Ali opposed the Vietnam War. So did the Soviets. The fact you are on the "correct" side of a social issue does not make you a saint.
Now I can give Ali a pass for some of this because America was a racist country at the time, he had a poor upbringing and he grew up with no educational opportunities. Of course he was ignorant and it's not surprising he would join a cult that preached black supremacy and racial hatred of his oppressors. I can't consider him a saint though. He was a puppet and a dupe for a truly terrible organization.Comment
