Seriously? Read a damn bio of the man and you'll get it.
One of the most charismatic athletes of all time, one of the greatest boxers of all time (I don't think he's the undisputed GOAT of boxing like so many people blindly claim - although he's arguably the greatest HW boxer of all time - but he's certainly up there), and he played an important role in the Civil Rights movement and helped give a voice to the blacks and represent them at a time when they needed it. There was a time when more books had been written about Ali than any other human in history other than Jesus. That shows what level of influence he had.Comment

People don't realize how hated he was...when he was healthy.I was 15 when Cassius Clay beat Sony Liston, I remember clearly the hate that was given to Clay in those early years, he was labeled everything from a big mouth to a chicken that runs, not only did he prove the haters wrong he became a great humanitarian who was larger than boxing, he was to boxing what Elvis was too music, legends like them never die they become immortalized with time.Comment

One of the greatest boxers of all time who also stood for something more than boxing. There was nobody else like that.
He used his talented mind outside the ring as successfully as he used his athletic talent inside the ring.Comment
