the increse in racial anomosity among boxing fans is due to recent matchmaking....

back in the days it would be pretty rare for a white boxer to fight a black boxer,,it would only happen very rarely on a large scale,,

think about it,the biggest fights involving a high profile white vs black was pavlik vs hopkins and froch vs taylor,,,these fights would happen but it would be rare and they only took place when absoluteely needed.

but now a days they got kovalev vs ward, kovalev vs ward II, GGG vs Jacobs, Loma vs Walters, crawford vs postol, wlad vs jacobs, wilder vs povetkin. it's constnatly white vs black over and over again,,they just trying to separate everybody by putting out this fake race war!!

u ppl need to see past that and stop with racismt!

This why you got Mexicans putting Filipinos to sleep. This way people aren't focusing just on white vs black

              No it's not.

First off, on this forum at least, the racial animosity was a result of the hardcore Mayweather fans, who for the first time since a prime tyson, had a black, hip hop relevant boxing superstar to get behind. When Pac was brought up as a rival and Floyd refused to fight him, the same fans became increasingly more insular and increasingly more racial in their bias.

Since then, we've seen the rise of eastern euro/central asian/former soviet bloc fighters and their fans have been dropped smakc **** in the middle of the hip hop wanabe Floyd fans, who since retirement, have turned their affections on any half decent black fighter. In response, this new demographic have responded in kind. So now there are two distinct, equally racially motivated fan groups on this forum.

Ofc, they are supplemented by the seemingly smaller but just as vocal hispanic group.

However, is this representative of boxing as a whole? I do not know. Britain for instance has always had a starl racial divide, with many of the white fans coming from poor, racially biased backgrounds where they have often sided with the black fighter who is the more conformed to their way of thinking, so Benn over Eubank for example. They hated naz becasue of his religion. They hated Khan similarly. They hated Lewis for the longest time and he has only started to gain respect post retirement.

Sadly, this entire sport is blighted by bigots of all kinds, derived from being fighter fans rather than fight fans.

Nah I think it has to do with the world outside of boxing

There is a lot of racial tension in general right now, so it is not surprising for that to seep into boxing

Yes, we need to end racism! But you can't sugarcoat the fact that it's still here, everywhere.

^^^broken down beautifully, even if it hurts just a tad. Back when I joined this forum the only racism I recall was against Filipinos and I'll let you guess where it came from. And then I saw the retaliation racism and since then it's just had time to fester. But anytime you have strong national support (and internet anonymity) you're going to find racism and that was probably the case way before I joined. It's just ignorant people thinking it's cool to be ignorant.
