In my opinion, seems like Kovalev has shown doubt about really believing he convincingly won this fight.
Starts blaming his coach, says he over-trained, needs to bring in some other guys to his team. And some other stuff that I've heard some posters mention.

lost round 3, lost round 4, barely won round 5, lost roudn 6, barely won roudn 7, barely won round 8, lost round 9, lost 10, 11 migth have lost, and lost round 12. you dont get credit for surviving after being knocked down. what low standards this fool adn his fans have. you get credit for landing punches and real punches not having a guys arm locked up with one arm and hitting with the other or holding him around the back and hitting with the other thats not even legal. you guys dont care about the sport when you count illegal punches. you coutning those low blows as body shots too?Comment

That's definitely evidence of some doubt in his mind. But maybe he's attributing that to why his performance wasn't better? Doesn't mean he thinks he lost. However, I do think it's a sign that he'll struggle more in the second fight.Comment

Letterman has had some pretty terrible cards over the years. This fight came down to how you scored the close rounds (which were like 9 out of 12). The judges clearly gave Ward most of them. So 6 of the 9.
Watched the fight like 10 times at this point. In 9 of those rounds very little, if anything, was landed by either guy. Kovalev was willing to clinch way too much (I think he over thought the issue; and this cost him the fight) and Ward was reluctant to use that left check hook. (For fear of taking a shot; short-armed it a lot)
1,2, and 9 were clear rounds imo. The rest I could see judges differing on. Very hard to call.Comment
