can anyone give me a good reason the USA would rob Kova but not Golovkin?

They don't just fiddle the cards because someone is the same nationality or race. If you're getting hired for important career defining jobs you don't make decisions like that unless someone else is swaying you too. Shows why judges who turn in funny cards are regularly finding work.

I've heard sometimes it's not out and out bribes, but the promoter might pay the judges very well, put them up in 5* hotels, take them to nice dinners. Then the judges will obviously know if they favour the promoter/home town fighter then they might be more likely to receive more work from them.
    i agree with this

but where is the money in ward? theres no money...hes boring...nobody know who he is...if they did that ppv would have sold at least 300k......theres no money in the ward business.......and if anything HBO would have wanted kovalev to win...hes more exciting and the fans have embraced golovkin supposedly......

you remember that right? or are you gonna pretend golovkin fans havent shouted that for a couple of years when explaining his duck of ward?

ward is more well known than jacobs...but barely....not enough to justify robbing someone over.....and as i said....a win over golovkin for jacobs would have rasied jacobs profile greatly....probably to around the same level as ward.....so NO
I don't care what fanboys on here say.

Ward is one of the few well known American fighters, HBO have always been pro-Ward. They pay him big money (even against bums), they keep his name out there and it shows. Golovkin avoided Ward because Ward would have beat him.

A Jacobs win over Golovkin would have killed HBO, its that simple. All of their eggs are in the Golovkin vs Canelo basket. They are struggling badly and cannot afford that fight to fall through.

They had FAR more reason to want the undefeated American Ward to win.

hbo has not always been behind ward...ward and floyd have both said that hbo hasnt had wards back really........many have said hbo re signed ward so that they could keep him away from golovkin......did they pay ward for the brand fight? ya...because ward made them do it to get the kovalev fight....ward doesnt have a great relationship with hbo at all really......thats why he made them pay him to fight brand....ward held them hostage to get the kovalev fight

hbo was paying ward to GTFO of 168 and keep golovkins name away from him...thats party why they paid him face to barrera and brand(barrera wasnt considered a "bum"...just brand)

they definitley didnt have far more reason to want ward to win....let alone any reason....

          You can't generalise such things

I don't think the two fights are similar anyway. In the case of Ward/Kovalev, you literally have to concede everything to Ward to give him 114/113 to win. Thats su****ious in and of itself. Kovalev had a much better case for winning that fight

Golovkin/Jacobs is one of those fights you can score either way. I personally had Jacobs winning, but it is what it is. This was a much closer fight than Ward/Kovalev
... I also had Jacobs winning...
... but I also felt that Ward didn't do enough in order to win -- I had it a draw, at most (like the Mayweathers)...

GGG has that destruction yet he still has that likeability with his humorous use of English/way of talking much like Manny & Tyson did. Destruction in the ring + funny voice out of the ring is a winning formula in boxing.

Kovalev sounds like a truck driver. He'd be in GGG's position if only he talked closer to how a Sesame Street character talked.

At first Ward was boring and had no fans. Now he's a financial engine with Vegas in his back pocket.

                TRUTH...cold, hard, TRUTH

these clowns run around for two years explaining golovkins duck of ward as "ward cant even sellout in oakland...theres no money it...ward aint relevant nobody know who he is"

now all of the sudden ward is the "most recognizable US boxing star" and thats supposed to count for something? now there are legit reasons to rob wards opponents? LOL

what kind of star could they have made out of jacobs if he was the one to topple HBOs EE superstar? probably a pretty good one

theres no way it was in HBOs best interest to have ward win....everyone said nobody knew who ward was and ward is boring and cant sell

that doesnt add up to hbo wanting ward to win
Breadman went into all this in one of his Mailbags, well worth looking up, about how there can be different winners of the fight, and the event. If its a close fight the winners going to be the one that financially benefits boxing. If Canelo/Chavez Jr is close, Canelos going to win. If Golovkin/Canelos close, Canelos going to win.

sure..in the case of canelo....because canelo is a proven star/ticket/ppv seller.....ward is NOT

its just another case of golovkin apologists flip flopping and twisting their words...changing them up

as noted...they said for years how ward dont sell and theres no money in the ward business....now when faced with this argument ward is now some "US boxing star" that the US needs......but he wasnt that in late 2015 when he wanted a piece of golovkin at 168 tho right?

golovkin fans are terrible...this is why his respect has been diminishing for well over a year....you guys constantly flip flop your stances to fit your arguments......

Kovalev gets higher ratings than Ward.

Sergei is more entertaining to casuals in the ring.

Sergei has much more crazy and newsworthy soundbites outside the ring.

There is no earthy reason HBO would want Ward to win more than Kovalev.

                      There was NO FIX.

Just 3 men who saw the fight more accurately than most of the fanboys or half drunk sportswriters that were there.
