In general I don't think so, but it depends on the level your at & who's around or who you are in the pipeline to fight or who's coming down the pipeline to fight you.

If there isn't anything else happening I think an immediate rematch makes a lot of sense. For example like with Ward & Kovalev at 175. There are a lot of promising guys at 175 that don't seem ready for prime time quite yet & Adonis who's made himself obsolete for the most part so 175 is the Ward & Kovalev show & a rematch is pretty much the only thing that does make sense there.

If it were between the 1 & 2 fighters of that division and not much changed after the fight, then why not? You, yourself, TS, stated that Jacobs was a serious threat to GGG. I'm sure he and his team would come up w/ different little things in a rematch, as well as GGG, and it could turn out quite differently for either fighter.

I do understand GGG(assuming this thread is about him and DJ) saying he rather chase a dream or fight Canelo. Those are more lucrative fights for his wallet. No hating that. If those don't happen this year, why sit around? GGG fans love the fact that he waits for no one and fights whoever steps in front of him. If it happens to be Jacobs, that wouldn't be a bad thing at all

whats it going to do to ggg's cv if he beats jacobs in a rematch? you all going to start praising him? he didnt look his best but he won the fight, the vast majoirty of boxing pundits had him winning, you lot just dont know how to score a fight.
and hes getting old, he needs to get as many good names on his record as possible. i want him to fight saunders, ramirez, degale and charlo in next couple of years. im not putting canelo cause he isnt interested in the fight.
jacobs had his chance and he didnt do enough offensively to win, end of, he can get back in line.

You went from saying Jacobs had no chance to a legit shot of beating ggg. The fight was a good one. If you can go from such a big change of opinion of a fighter in a few months, why do you not believe he can excel and win a rematch?

From no change, to big shot.. I don't understand this whatsoever

It's not ducking. But it's definatley a show of non-competiveness. This ain't the old days. Nowadays, if a fighter is considered great he needs to rematch immediately or at least within the year to keep himself in the conversation. IMO.

This is boxingscene so it depends on how much you hate the fighter. If you're a fan then the rematch isn't warranted. But if you hate said fighter then you're a ducking as$ bi.tch if you go after some new blood.

i dont know why these quotes are used as a stick to beat me with. at the end of the day i was correct, one of the few people who said jacobs could have a chance at pulling it off. when i said he had no chance initially i was just thinking about the pirog fight, then i watched some more fights and realise he was a man now and a kid back then, much improved.
he put up a good fight, but it wasnt close enough for a rematch. if ggg was 30, yeah maybe have a rematch, i wouldnt demand it but it was a close-ish fight. but hes 35, he needs to make serious moves and as far as im concerned it wasnt controversial and it doesnt warrant an immediate rematch.

I'm not saying an immediate rematch is needed. Hell, I'm more than ok with him chasing his money. Getting the 4th belt or that payday a Canelo fight would bring him.

If that doesn't happen this year, who is there left? The number 2 MW would be a great choice. The fight wasn't dull, the fight wasn't a dominant one, not was it a showcase for GGG. It was his toughest fight.

You know what? Never mind. Forget a rematch.
