Collazo is still a legit gatekeeper.

Younger guys have to get past somebody like Collazo in order to excel to the next level.

LOL, doesn't surprise me. I guess he's entitled to a "stay busy" fight before a rematch with Thurman. It sells out Barclay's anyway. He better hope Keith beats winner of Brook/Spence, otherwise Danny will get crushed.

Collazo is just a journeyman. Nothing more. I am not sure what point fighting him would prove. I would rather see a rematch with Peterson.

Broner had to somewhat start from scratch. Guerrero been trying to grab a belt but imo those days are over especially at 147... Berto and Porter have to make-do to get a title shot. So I'd imagine Haymon has to enforce it for Garcia. It's up to Thurman is he wants to give Garcia a rematch.

If Garcia can get Collazo out sooner then perhaps more pressure is on Thurman, even tough he already beat Garcia or Bundu before others..

Are there a lot of Puerto Ricans in Philly?

I don't mind the fight. I actually like Collazo, a lot. He is one of those guys that has put in his work and I like to see those guys get a payday or two towards the end of their careers. They have been trying to make him a gatekeeper for years now, but he just won't go quitely into the night. Hell I think he will give Danny a competitive fight. Granted Collazo is past his best, but the only two times I've really seen him beaten easily were against Khan and Mosley, but Danny fights nothing like them. So I think he will give a good account of himself, the guy always shows up to fight.

Seems like a great scrap for PR East Coast heads. Barclays Slam it on Fox or Spike. =)
This is a fantastic fight for Danny's comeback or perhaps maybe too tough a fight. I can legitimately see Collazo beating Danny, but not likely.

Collazo has a severely underrated career:
                    - robbed against hatton
                    - robbed against berto
                    - KOd Ortiz
                    - KOd vasquez

i'd expect an opponent like that even if danny won

as long as danny doesn't fight another rod salka i'm not going to cry about the guy taking a tune up after a loss against a pretty good puncher. the only reason to make a thread about this is to laugh at garcia's choice of opponent in the past. he's fought some legit no hopers. shot malignaggi coming off of a knockout loss to shawn porter. rod salka, a lightweight not even in the top 50 is one of the worst matchups that has ever made it to premium TV. showtime costs money
