Loma for one is trying to do that but man, 4 good wins againts quality opposition won't make you P4P yet.
Lyle Fitzimmons having the last laugh after receiving some nice rogue cash from TR for writing this article. Arum doesn't understand this is an age of trollism on the net, even vet writers love it

Ward is NOT p4p because I don't think he beat Kov. I know Loma has a loss to a guy with a DOZEN other losses but but but "insert excuses here"...

Lomachenko fought a bum in Jason Sosa not P4P #1

Give Loma some credit but Sosa was a weak excuse and not very talented. Loma needs a challenge like a Mikey Garcia to prove number one ranking. Beating a defenseless bum proves nothing. Russian propaganda nothing more. Duh?

I'm not saying Lomo is P4P the best, I'm just saying Ward isn't.
Did you really just say a Future Hall of Fame is not even better than a Quitter and another guy who fights once a year??? WOW??? Your an idiot... Billygoat should be your name because you know JACK sht about boxing.

Ward has cleared one of the most competitive divisions in boxing and went and took over the next one. He beat the guy at number one regardless of fanboy opinion, but black fighters must crush and dominate in order for it to count as a win (see the comparison with gggs last fight).

And as far as the bolded; Yes a Froch win is 5 times better, not to mention the Dawson win. Froch was on the p4p list before, Froch beat top 2/3 fighters in the division and both were at the end of tournament meaning their stock were super high. Walters after a year off and GRJ whose main opponent had been TBA to that point aren't on the same level.

Sorry fellas it not about who you "like"

Manny has only beaten one top 5 welterweight the last 5 years..... Bradley.... Mayweather beat him, JMM knocked him out yet he is still in the top ten p4p and top ten @ ww

Ward is undefeated unified @ 175, hasn't lost since 13 years old and has had one close fight his entire pro career

Kovalev is more dangerous and more accomplished than anyone loma has fought. Barrera went on to prove he is top ten @ 175, ward outclassed him.

Froch was more dangerous and accomplish than anyone kov has fought....add wins over Dawson, Abraham, Kessler, Bika, and its clear as day ward is more proven, battle tested

PROVEN and talented are two different things....PFP #1 has to be proven....this isn't just eye test sorry

Lyle makes some solid points in this article. I agree with Tbear and some others that we need to see a little more before we judge but it's clear to me he is the most skilled fighter since Young Floyd.

I hope ARum and HBO have him fight more often and make the fights we want to see. It would be a shame if they use politics to prevent Loma from getting the chance to fight the best talent.

Why such a big deal about a loss ffs ? Ali lost to Frazier back in the days when protecting The Zero wasn't such a holy grail. Keeping the zero these days means we don't get to see a lot of the top guys go agaisnt each other; cherry-picking; delaying fights against other top fighters when they start to decline; catchweights, all sorts of bs.

'Insert excuses here' - did you actually watch the Loma/Salido fight ? Did you see why he lost ? Sure he could have taken the 20 fight streak against no-hopers to 'learn the pro game' and burn 4 years wasting time - or go in deep and learn it all in one fight (which he did). What part of him not knowing how to pace himself for a 12 round title fight don't you understand ? What part of Salido missing weight by over 2 lbs don't you understand ? What part of over 100 unpunished low blows don't you understand ? What part of even given all that he had Salido out on his feet at the end of 12 don't you understand ? Loma paced himself wrong and gave up too many early rounds, plus struggled dealing with the physical game Salido put up mainly due to the low blows and not knowing how to deal with them given he likes to stay in the pocket. Excuses ? Just reasons he lost the fight.

If we're judging accomplishments, the greatest amateur record of all time is a good start.

The Pro record to date just confirms what we thought we knew from the 396-1 amateur record.
We're in the pros now and the pro record vs good but not great competition doesn't confirm anything as of yet. He still has to beat a great fighter to be considered
