I dont doubt that his input matters. Its just a question of how much. And thats a question that neither you nor I have the answer to......

reason why..... ?
because they wanted to fight a no-hoper in Fcukistan
problem is, Warren agreed to ALL terms..... which means that he just burned Team Golovkin's "oh well, we can't make them fight us..... I guess we will fight a TBA because Gennady is married to the date" story.....
because he agreed to ALL terms, they had to fight Saunders in June rather than another no-hoper, so..... the fight is off, suddenly it is important to wait for Canelo
well, by admitting that, now they have to accept Canelo's offer or else they just wasted another payday
Warren jumped on K2, and according to recent interviews Billy-Joe is keen as mustard for that fight.....
it looks like they scared them off
Originally posted by Motorcity Cobra View PostNot only was he keen to fight, he was the one asking Tom where is the contract. He took it upon himself to ask Tom why he hasn't received the contract. I guess BJS didn't believe what Warren or his manager was telling him. He probably thought they were lying when they said they were waiting on Loeffler. So BJS asked Loeffler what's up with the contract and Loeffler said he was sending it but never sent it
I have been saying it all along
all I do, is understand their MO
they want Hopkins record far more than they want the WBO title..... it stands to reason..... that is the cheapest shine, and the best risk/reward option legacy-wise..... in this day and age, it is easier to beat Hopkins record by fighting 3 more no-hopers, than by fighting Jacobs/Canelo/Saunders
so yea, the Canelo fight will not happen in Sep either
they will disagree on terms
it will happen next year, after GGG has broken the record
Saunders can forget it

This is just dumb dumb dumb, and I am having a hard time believing that Oleg would go along with this, and risk getting okie-doked yet again.
I hope this 'source" is wrong. But if the source is correct, then in my opinion K2 just made a HUGE mistake and likely screwed GGGs career royally.........
then change your narrative
ask yourself why ?
FACT: Team Golovkin made that decision because it benefits them to do so
..... so, what set of circumstances would need to exist in order for that decision to benefit Team Golovkin?
been fun calling me a hater for the last year, hasn't it ?

could be completely wrong here, just a wild guess.....
but, Mayweather/McGregor will sell 1.5 - 2mil PPV's
Canelo/Golovkin will sell about the same as Canelo/Chavez
about 800-900k

Now he is looking for that record because there is little chance that he gets the Canelo fight with the pay that he wants
That eight figure payday that he is looking for with that Canelo fight may be out the window

props to you
I have been saying for the longest time..... Team Golovkin are taking the fights they want, and they are passing on the rest..... just like EVERY OTHER FIGHTER
they are making the exact same risk/reward decisions as everyone else
Golovkin, along with every other fighter EVER, is 100% responsible - therefore 100% accountable - for his resume
come on you guys, what the fk is wrong with you ?
there is a damn good reason why Mr "anyone from 154-168" totally refused to negotiate on weight with lil old FADED 153lb Cotto..... who was his best possible payday at that point in time
keep pretending that Cotto was not still a world-class fighter who was knocking out the same fools G was

I'm a big GGG fan but I do think this hurts his credibility somewhat. You can't talk about all the belts so much and talk about others being business men and then pick money unifying. I'm not mad at him either, I'd do the same thing but I wouldn't try to maintain this boxing purist character image in the process.
That being said, I hope GB and K2 have a written agreement for a fight pending the outcome of Canelo vs Chavez. Not accepting the $15 mill I think was just a bargaining chip like Ward saying he'll retire vs Kovalev and then agreeing at the last minute.
