Cotto is off the table for Sept he's fighting on regular HBO in the summer. If he wins won't be ready to fight again till likely Oct/Nov. If GGG ducks your options for Sept are Chavez rematch, Lemieux, Saunders.

I'm pretty sure Loeffler is still trying to make Saunders.

When asked about the story he said no comment.

If he denied it, we'd know that he thinks Saunders fight will happen.

If he confirmed it, then obviously Saunders fight not happening.

No comment to me is in the middle, he's working on the Saunders fight but doesn't know if it will get made. No comment strengthens his bargaining position against BJS and the Astana organizers, so it's the smartest thing to say if you're still negotiating.

The soreness thing is bull****, nobody said Golovkin isn't fighting in June because he's sore, that's the conclusion the author of the article made, and it's a weak conclusion. Abel just said Golovkin isn't injured, just more sore than usual. Abel wasn't saying anything about whether that would effect a June fight. Abel's been saying he expects the June fight to happen.

One thing I've noticed on boxing forums, people assume all headlines are true before there is anything official. Articles are written to get internet traffic, and unnamed sources may be people who don't know ****.

a common perception is that Team Golovkin were being played by Golden Boy

I never agreed with that perception

by my record, Team Golovkin has refused an offer from Golden Boy promotions on at least 3 occasions

first, Team Golovkin totally refused to negotiate on weight

then, after Canelo conceded on the weight, they demanded more money despite being offered an 8-figure sum

then Hoya increased the offer to include a percentage of PPV should the sales exceed a certain amount

they DEFINITELY could have fought Canelo, if they really wanted to..... or at least had him signed by now..... Golovkin's situation is hardly comparable to the 1.5mil that Team Golovkin initially offered Jacobs/Saunders

They probably did refuse it on three different occasions...That first one should have nulled things altogether because Golovkin's team (specifically Loeffler) said that they wouldn't mind going to 155 to fight the winner of Cotto-Canelo. When Canelo won that fight then called em on it, that's when Golovkin/K2 reneged what they said.

Golovkin's manager came out a second ago and said there are still closed negotiations taking place, and you shouldn't trust unofficial information.
