Typically, I don't care for showboating, but he's pretty innovative with it. When he stopped for like ten seconds before the bell against Walters. Then he waved him off at the end of a round. The matador against Sosa and then he mocked him right after. He's at least very creative with it. I like the biting the belt routine after the fights, too. Creative little b@stard. Ha.
Any One Else Like Loma's Showboating?

i do, if it's done in a way that's essentially got both guys laughing it's good entertainment, but then again maybe these days to get enough numbers for ppvs, a big load of people need to also be watching to see you lose.
he's not a trash talker, in fact he shows respect and props to fellow fighters (and his little mistakes in speaking English often get taken out of context), so at least his showboating will give his detractors something to bite on, otherwise they'll find other things to talk about, like why he isn't fighting a dude 2 to 3 weight classes above him if he so great... (guy starts career at 126, and by less than 10 fights he apparently should already be fighting Crawford wtf!)Last edited by TheCleaner; 04-10-2017, 12:43 AM.Comment

I'm seeing a pattern here. You know, no matter how many times you say it, I still don't believe it. Your mind warp is failing.Comment

Yes, I think he's doing it in good fun really. I know Tony Weeks thought he was funny in the Walters fight. Haha.i do, if it's done in a way that's essentially got both guys laughing it's good entertainment, but then again maybe these days to get enough numbers for ppvs, a big load of people need to also be watching to see you lose.

I think the only time I like showboating is something like Maidana when he did it back to Broner, as revenge. Maybe when Calzaghe did it to Hopkins (which was sort of a "revenge" too after what BHop said). Generally though, I don't like it. Don't like when Loma does it (looks awkward to me), nor Floyd, didn't like it at all when Roy did it, hated it when Joe did it to Roy.
I think one of the only other times when I thought it looked cool was Mayorga vs Tito but Mayorga was just a madman and he was losing anyway...Comment

Yes I generally don't either. Maidana's was epic revenge. I just think Loma is creative with it. I don't see people doing it the way he does. Usually guys dance around or taunt in the same old ways but I thought the matador thing was different as was the stop with Walters. Never seen anyone do that except for when Whitaker would pause sometimes. It's like watching a movie or a show where there's a fight scene which you've seen a hundred times but in this particular one, they do something different to really catch your attention. I'm sure any casual watching the fight would say, "What the hell was that?" Haha. That can lead to talk at the water cooler possibly which could be good for the sport.I think the only time I like showboating is something like Maidana when he did it back to Broner, as revenge. After thinking about it more, I think what I didn't like about the matador was that he was already beating the hell out of the kid. When it's a mis-match and you have a guy who is ballsey enough to fight you when others won't, mocking him after you're already smashing him is just a **** move.
When Calzaghe (my #2 all-time fave) did it to Roy I cringed because it was mocking a legend with his own move. I just thought it was ugly. But, I respect there was a legit reason for him to do it in that he needed Roy to open up.
If Loma did the matador at the end of the Salido fight when he was starting to get back in the fight, THAT would have been some badassery. Against a dismantled opponent who never had a hope to begin with... no thanks.
FWIW, I get the impression that Loma has sort of an awkward personality so I'm going to give him the benefit of the doubt and assume he wasn't trying to be a prick.Comment

Haha. I know you've heard enough of that today.
On a serious note, I get it. Showboating can definitely be a d1ck move when you're well ahead. I don't really know what Roy or Sosa thought about it when it happened to them. Did it get to them? I doubt it got to Roy. He'd seen everything. Sosa seemed to roll with it, but who knows?
And yes. I think Loma does it in good fun, but we'll see. He might just be an arrogant little b@stard. One of my heroes El Terrible did something pretty disgusting in taking pictures of himself while standing over his fallen opponent. I'd heard the guy had seriously pi$$ed him off before the fight, but it was still pretty bad to watch. I thought, 'Man, you just beat his a$$ in the ring. Let it go.' It's the hurt game in more ways than one, but I don't admire that kind of thing.Comment
