His whole persona is a fraud.
He comes from a relatively affluent town outside London where a certain section of people choose to create a needless gang culture. There's no deep-rooted deprivation or anything to blame it on. When you listen to him talk about the long prison sentence he avoided by being found not guilty of a serious offence, he never says he didn't do it and he shows no remorse. He's still hanging around with the same scumbags he always did and does nothing to discourage the culture that almost cost him his freedom.

    He's been extremely well marketed.

Exactly. Don't forget he's an ex drug dealer from a poor background. The Joshua you see now is carefully media trained to maximise fanbase/exposure/money.

yeah i cant really warm to joshua, doesnt seem to have any personality at all, and his whole 'stay humble' routine is so fake and transparent. dont really care if he wins or loses against wlad.

I think it would build him as a household name even quicker if he had that natural ferocity about him
If Joshua was more "vicious", sponsors would avoid the man like a plague; the game is different from when Tyson was around.

how much do endorsements really pay though?

tyson and floyd went with the ******* persona (floyd fakes it, tyson was a natural), they didnt get endorsements but more than made up for it in purses.

Mike Tyson was an anomaly, he could say straight up gay things but you would be terrified by his words, for one reason or another you were glued to the screen to watch him. Another guy is Tupac, you can't buy the time on air they had. If someone were to TRY to do those things it would come off as corny and they would be deemed as copy cats and lose respect from a lot of people.

He's considered "boring" by many but is still one of the biggest if not the biggest star in boxing.

If he had a personality like Pretty boy Floyd or McGregor he'd be the biggest star in all sports.

But I guess he doesn't need all those antics.. If he can get past Vlad he will become the biggest star in boxing regardless of his personality. I like listening to him he is confident yet conducts himself like a gentleman.

His whole team is professional now. Maybe at one point they were upto no good but they seem to have changes thier ways. They aren't promoting a "thing life" but rather a humble way of living.. Even if it's fake at least he's staying out of trouble now I'm promoting positive way to live.

So how can you say he does nothing to discourage that life style? People are too critical of AJ. Some say he was never a real drug dealer and that is all a act for media. Others say he was a horrible person/drug dealer and all this nice guy act is fake.

Give him a break for turning his life around. Everyone on the planet has done something they regret.. Other have done worse than some but respect them if they changed thier life around for the better.

AJ's personality (or lack thereof) is a drag. Not that I want all boxers to be aggressive, but they should at least have some kind of character. Floyd the ****y millionaire, Kovalev the Krusher, Ward the thinker, Fury the loon, etc. AJ has nothing.
