problem with this is that only certain guys can get away with this. would american networks have any interest in guys lke ggg and kovalev if they were low contact clinchers like ward and floyd? no. some people have to be exciting just to make a living. some people use a built in fanbase and subvert the rules to make a living simply because its the easiest option. cong**** to them i suppose but that doesnt mean we should respect it.
If boxers can get good money and fight a style that takes the least damage

Tyson isn't the only KO artist in history. He was just promoted better than anyone else. You are making assumptions but the numbers are contradictory to your statements. The most exciting fighters are not the biggest box office hits. The best fighters and the most popular ones are.Comment

Larry, are you going to answer my point or just blatantly ignore it because you're stumped as to how to answer this?
"So you'd be happy with Golovkin going back to fighting guys like Wade and Monroe? Making bring up another welterweight?
Gennady should make his money, stay healthy, **** eveything else, right?"
I just want to know where you stand on this Larry.Comment

Does anyone know why Larry won't answer my question?
It's simple. I am just saying that to fit in with the central premise of this thread, Larry doesn't mind Golovkin fighting the likes of Monroe, Wade, or another welterweight anymore.
Because **** what the fans want. Make your money, keep your healthy, **** everything else. Best way GGG does that is with easy opponents.
Right, Larry?Comment

I think we need to clarify that Larry isn't suggesting a fighter do this their whole career. I think he is suggesting this plan once a fighter has reached a certain point.
It's like jay-z saying " i sold 5 mil and I haven't rhymed like common since." Once you reach a point where you are a "business", continuing to win becomes more important because more is at stake.
As fans, we want young Floyd the same way we want reasonable doubt hov. circumstances require a different approach.
Had ggg reached the point where he is a business that needs to keep winning? Perhaps, given his value as an undefeated opponent for canelo.Last edited by The Big Dunn; 04-07-2017, 08:34 AM.Comment

And GGG has reached that point in his career. So Larry should be fine with him taking ****, easy fights to preserve his health and money.Comment

The best way to avoid damage is easy fights. If "**** everything else", then why shouldn't fighters take easy fights to preserve their health? The principle is the same - fighters do what is best for them, with no regard for the fans. Fans ain't gonna look after them when they are old, so why shouldn't GGG go on the hunt for more Monroes and Wades?Comment
