Real boxing fans want to see and appreciate a well rounded fighter who uses all of his tools in the ring and puts on a dominating performance with the emphasis on punches thrown and landed.

Floyd had his villainous image that helped. Most defensive fighters aren't very popular. If there are fans who like them then good for them. They should count themselves lucky that they are so easily entertained.
I didn't mention a single word about Floyd, and off you go.

Youre a fan of some fighters and hate others because they not to your personal liking, what is a well rounded fighter, that's as wishy washy as saying people want a car with four wheels and a engine.

Like I said fans are on the outside of the game being spoon fed dumb rock information so they can jump up an down because its a different opinion. people on the inside see through most of it fans don't they thrive on it.

Look at this forum its all hate and ass kissing, my guy is always the best so that means yours is rubbish so I will search high and low out for any negative I can find and present it up to show Im right, thats fan logic.

We don't all drive the same car or wear the same clothes just because something doesn't appeal to you doesn't makes yours better and the other guys worse.

The aim of the fight game for every fighter is to win, there are many ways to win and many styles that will win when used correctly against another styles, they are all trying to do the same thing and that is go as far as they can, and they all individuals.

Once you understand that you can actually appreciate the science aspect of boxing, the execution of that science is what I enjoy there is so much more to boxing than just power but you got to be able to see it before you can appreciate fully what is going on and what it takes to achieve., who gives a **** about personality's fans do.

You want to debate fan bs, you talk about well rounded well what is that exactly, better still why don't you show me by definition and take Floyd seeing you were hell bent on bringing him into it, so take Floyd and break him down into , foot work, hand eye coordination, timing, ring IQ, defense, power, endurance and then tell me whats not well rounded about Floyd.

The thing is youre on about excitement and what you like, youre not seeing any of the scientific side of the sport or the business side of the sport, where everybody that's inside boxing have it under the microscope because its all intertwined into the winning.

There is not a single fighter I dislike I look at the boxing in the ring that's the only part Im interested in and I look at it lot deeper than you do, you are about the hype and gossip I couldn't care less about any of that crap.

All boxers including the much hated GGG should run their career however they think is best and fight who ever they please. If the are a champion they do have a responsibility to fight the top challengers at least once a year. If they aren't a champion they owe nothing to boxing fans and can fight whoever they think is best for them to fight. So many on here want to tell boxers who to fight and when to fight them and even order boxers to move up a weight class or two. Sorry but they have a team that actually likes them and has their best interests in mind to help them pick their opponents.

In my opinion popularity stems from personality, you're either going to get high numbers because people like you or because they hate you.

Floyd has a pretty shit personality and people tune n to watch him lose for the most part, he's a great boxer so it keeps people coming back.

Lara is a good defensive fighter tooas is Rigo, the lsit goes on & they don't get a big following because they're boring as ***.

Popularity comes down to showmanship and being a top fighter, that's it.

If a fighter is cherry picking, fighting extremely negative and never even trying to be the best then I don't have much of an interest, I appreciate masterful boxing but fighting scared doesn't really appeal.

It is their life though so if thy want to fight a certain way it''s their choice, but if it's all about making money then they need to do something to bring in the fans

Just winning alone wouldn't provide me with enough emotional gratification unless I had no other choice; I'd have to win in at least a semi-spectacular manner.
But you're not a fighter. You don't have to deal with getting punched in the face and knowing that the next fight could be your last.

Can you actually make a case why he should? Even his own trainer, Virgil Hunter, went on a rant about the huge pay discrepancy between them prior to their first fight.

Lmaoooo isn't that the truth..... I remember Gabe Rosado said he saw Meldrick Taylor bagging groceries and no one knew who he was.

A boxer has to look out for his interests and maximise his profits while taking the least punishment and risks. If you fight for the fans then you're dumb cause those fans won't remember you when you're wheelchair bound and broke. The fans don't have to care though it's in our interests to expect the best fights.

These interests only align when the best fights are the most profitable fights and the risk vs reward is deemed acceptable for both sides.

lol @ saying Tyson's popularity stemmed from his personality. Perhaps in the second half of his career, but in the first half he was completely normal, and he didn't earn the creed of being the baddest man on the planet for no goddamn reason.
Tyson isn't the only KO artist in history. He was just promoted better than anyone else. You are making assumptions but the numbers are contradictory to your statements. The most exciting fighters are not the biggest box office hits. The best fighters and the most popular ones are.
