  • There are Physical limits and Mental limits in boxing.

I would say Ward can't do any better than the first fight against Ward because of physical limits in boxing and the mental limits to what he could do in the center of the ring with a man stronger than him, that could match his speed, that could match his ring I.Q and outgunned in every possible way in power.

There are limits to Andre Ward, and in my opinion we saw his absolute ceiling against Kovalev in the first round and he fell short in the majority of the boxing world and the casual world.

I would say that Andre Ward "Adjusting" in the second fight would not happen. There are limits to what you can do. And It wasn't even a in shape Sergey, it was an out of Shape Kovalev.

Kovalev by 7-5, 8-4, or Late TKO.

Are you joking dude? We're really going to talk about physical limits when kovalev literally ****ing gassed in the final rounds?

Ward has the best defense in the game, every round that Kovalev is in there, he's fighting an uphill battle because he's going to be expending more energy than Ward, that's ward's M.O, to make you work, while he does less work, and then he takes advantage of the deficiency.

Kovalev was out of shape and he gassed all too quickly after 6 rounds even though he barely got hit in the first 6, it was all too obvious and uncharacteristic knowing Kovalev is capable of going to the full twelve and could still knock you out in the eight. And you do know the body work of Andre Ward really started in the round 7, yet still he lost round 10 and 12 as Sergey kept hammering him with the jab. (I bet you gave Ward round 10 and 12)

You know what before I go any further, i'm going to rewatch the fight, because I need to do it anyway now that the rematch is on.

Let me just say that there are no excuses in boxing so stop that right now. You trying to say that kovalev was out of shape in the biggest fight of his life sounds like a lot of horse**** lol, nobody wants to hear that.

Kovalev has "proven" he can go the distance or stop someone late cause he never faced anyone who's the same caliber as Andre Ward. It's that simple. As of right now, he's obviously not capable of doing what you just claimed he can do (vs Ward anyway) cause he failed to do so vs a guy he dropped early in the fight. Now he has the rematch to prove you right and prove me wrong.

Kovalev was not out of shape. It's easier to do twelve round when you are beating your opponents to a pulp. It's another thing when you're getting outboxed & getting hit with body shots & hooks. I thought Kovalev won that fight, but I understand how the judges scored it in favor of Ward. The bottom line is when you are in a fight with someone on your level you have to be on point, you need to think more & all of this really takes a toll on a fighter, that's why Kolvalev tired quickly. (You see this is why I wasn't impressed when Roy Jones whipped Vinny Pazienzia, he was just an overblown lightweight).

So, getting back to Kovalev/Ward, I do know it was a close fight & both fighters were in good shape!

This goes against common boxing wisdom, which is that the thinker will always have the higher mental ceiling. To say that a cerebral, technical fighter can't go anywhere, can't figure out anything new, shows a lack of boxing knowledge on your part.

Your argument would have had some legitimacy if you were strictly speaking of physical limits, but then we say Kovalev fatigue so your argument dies again.
