Ward hurt Kovalev several times in that fight, especially to the body.

He is definitely capable of stopping Kovalev, especially if he can get Sergei to expend a lot of energy early.

The paradox for Sergei is this.

To beat Ward, he has to be much busier.

But, if he is much busier and doesn't get the job done early, he could be in trouble.

If they get halfway thru, it's kinda even, and he has expended a lot of energy, it won't end well for Sergei.

Yet you forget who ran away first when that fight was due for HBO. Is your head that far up Haymon's ass that you forget that fact? I believe so, everyone knows you are a joke and your obsession with Haymon borders on the ******.

To be fair to Adonis, he didnt run away either.

Showtime gave him a crapload more money.

And, Duva spent a lot of time and energy maneuvering to get the purse bid they would up backing out of.

Kathy made Kova look like a punk.

also, he will need to hurt Ward early in order to win those rounds..... Ward aint gonna be sitting there doing nothing

this is a MUCH harder fight for Kovalev imho..... Ward is a master-boxer, who has already had a real good look at Kovalev, and has already adjusted to his style despite Kovalev holding most of the physical advantages

look for Ward to dig a little deeper into his bag of tricks this time

I think it would be a mistake for Kovalev to fight mad. He already dosent have be best stamina in the world. That said, I thought he would win the first fight, I thought he DID win the first fight, and I think he will win in a rematch.

HEY CASUALS, none of that tough talk means anything when the bell rings......If youre thinking about all that TALK you've already lost. You need to be thinking about who youre fighting and what their doing to you. I'm sure kitty kov wanted to ko, Andre the first time but couldnt, like the new russian converts that need to think someone is SCARED of their fighter.....No one is scared at this level, if he was, he could've just stayed down as opposed to fighting him for another 10 rounds...
long story short...the only people that talk about fear or being scared are those that frequently experience those thoughts or feelings....meaning you guys are the ones who are full of fear and those are feelings you can relate to, because thats what you were raised to be.....scared little pansies (or another P word)

I said it before but it bears repeating.

One of the enduring images of the first fight was that reverse headlock Sergei used every time Andre got close.

After awhile, if you are judging that fight, the only conclusion you can make is one guy wants to fight and the other guy wants to stop fighting and hold.

And you start to score rounds that way.

That's the biggest reason Kovalev lost the first time and what he has to correct.

He has to fight inside, if only a little.

And he has to learn to step to a side when Ward comes in.

Let him rush in, counter with a straight right or uppercut, step to the side then see if another counter is there.

He has to keep the fight long distance, especially early.
