Who will go down as greater in history- Marquez or Cotto?

After Pacman and Fraud Jr, which of these legends will go down as the #3 fighter of the last era- Juan Marquez, or Miguel Cotto?

Marquez- beat Pacquiao, Diaz (x2), Casamayor, Barrera, Salido, Alvarado, etc.

Cotto- beat Martinez, Mosley, Margarito, Judah, Clottey, Mayorga, Malignaggi, Geale, Quintana, etc.

I believe both are 4-division champions, but who will rank higher in history?
    31
    Juan Manuel Marquez
    83.87%
    26
    Miguel Angel Cotto
    16.13%

It's a wash. I think there are logical arguments for both.

It is close. This a hard selection.

re: Martinez fight -- he was a gimp. Even though Cotto looked great, its hard to credit him. He did beat Geale at MW, which is pretty good.

Cotto does have Mosley, Clottey, Quintana, -- all at 147. Cotto didn't do much at 140 (Mags, meh) or 154

Ultimately, I think JMM had a higher ceiling. He fought Pac on even terms when Pac was the 2nd best in boxing (I had their first 3 fights 2-1 for JMM, but they were all so close they could have gone either way).

He beat a lot of solid to great fighters from 126 to 135 - Salido, Juarez, MAB, Casamayor, Diaz

              re losses in their prime:

JMM lost to Pac. John fight was BS decision. Mayweather was unnatural weight (but would have lost anyways)
Cotto lost to Pac, Mayweather (no fault in losing here), Trout & Canelo (a little post prime). I don't count the Margarito loss, as it might have been illegitimate.

Both great fighters, I think JMM edges Cotto

Marquez will be remembered as the better fighter by most. I don't think it is that close. Marquez fought on even terms with Pacquiao. Pacquiao destroyed Cotto with ease. Pound for pound Marquez is much better in my opinion. Cotto would beat Marquez now because he is much bigger and younger. Marquez has always been better for his weight than Cotto.

I agree that it's a wash. Logical arguments for both.

I say Cotto though slightly over Marquez.
