Have been telling anyone who wanted to listen that Roc Nation was calling the shot on the rematch, and look what we have now.

why do ward fans forget that it was him who gave every indication of not wanting the fight with all his divas antics?

Ward made it clear that the fight was going to happen on the terms and timeline that he and his team were putting forward, and nothing that Duva or Kovalev or the haters could try and throw into the press was going to change that.

Roc Nation did the work, penciled in the location with MGM Resorts and the date with HBO, kept doing the work, locked down the rest of the terms (enough to go with the press release), have the press tour already pretty much done, and are now going to continue going about the business of being the lead promoter for the event.

Duva/Kovalev finally accepted what it was, accepted their ~40% of the take, and seem ready to sit down and finally shut the heck up.

two questions...

I don't have Kovalev number 1 PFP and Ward is not even in my top 5 PFP. I rank Ward PFP on how well he is fighting now not how well he fought many years ago in the super six tournament. I thought Kovalev clearly beat Ward. I doubt I will make the Ward-Kovalev winner number 1 PFP. I will have to see how good the winner looks before I know where to place him. I can place him just on winning the fight. I am glad the rematch is made and I pick Kovalev to win convincingly.

offering stevenson the fight on hbo andfor the same exact purse split is blocking the fight from happening? he had years to take it and instead he preferred to fade away into obscurity with no fanbase.

Showtime put up more money for the fight than HBO was willing to offer, and everyone involved seemed to know that.

Roc Nation controls the event, with Main Events sitting back and watching them work.

I don't think it's that. It's that so many wanks seem to want to scream that Ward was afraid to rematch Kovalev as if no fighter has ever walked away from the fight game in his prime because they lost their passion for the sport. Look at Hagler and Leonard.

Hagler walked away because Leonard wouldn't give him a rematch and Leonard ended because of Terry Norris if I am not mistaken. I honestly don't think that Ward was afraid but I also don't think that he lost passion for the sport. I think that he did not like the negative feedback that he received and felt like he was really going to let everyone know just who had the upper hand. In his mind, he won the fight so he should be universally recognized as the best pound for pound fighter but instead many people thought he was the beneficiary of a robbery. Either way, he has signed the contract so he should be given respect for honouring the rematch. FYI...I think he wins this one but it will be real ugly. Peace.

If you think Ward had no choice in the matter, why was there negotiations going on and why did Team Kov have to give up additional contractual items to Team Ward?

You must be misinformed. Roc Nation owes Cotto 18mil for his next fight, which is likley going to gain Roc Nation a loss. No oppent out side of Canelo, Floyd or Manny will generate close to that kind of cash. Roc Nation at this point is trying to minimize loss. Thats why the opponent thing has taken way to long.

If you honestly think that Roc Nation is paying Cotto $50m for three fights, you're a fool.

Miguel Cotto will likely fight Brandon Rios, sell out one of the NYC venues (Barclays Center or MSG), and have his fight take the HBO rights fee paired with the re-air of Ward-Kovalev II, on top of other revenues.
