not without ward being taking to court and having to pay duva a lot of money. ward did not want to do a rematch hence all that talk of retirement and dragging out the date of the fight. he had no choice.

How do you know that the rematch clause was so iron glad? How do you know that the rematch clause wouldn't have been voided if Kovalev took an interim fight? Have you seen the contract?

I don't think it's that. It's that so many wanks seem to want to scream that Ward was afraid to rematch Kovalev as if no fighter has ever walked away from the fight game in his prime because they lost their passion for the sport. Look at Hagler and Leonard.

Ward had to take this rematch and props to him for doing so, he had 4 or 5 really good rounds and I think he worked Sergey out. Kovalev needs to really take the initiative over the first 3 or 4 rounds but what would I know lol. Bring it on!

I honestly saw Kovalev winning the first one but the fight was very close.

Look forward to this. I prefer Kovalev's style but also appreciate Ward's skill sets and Ward seems like a good dude. I'd like to see Kov win this one so we have a 3rd fight to decide it all. That being said, I think Ward will probably win this one by a fairly convincing decision. Either way, I'm excited and will be watching.
