He's one of the three or four best fighters in the division and on his best day his defence could be a tough nut to crack for GGG, but principally it's for unification. Becoming undisputed in today's boxing environment is a huge deal
It is the only fight ensuring he can forego crappy mando's (unification trumps mando) that none of you would accept as even a stay busy fight despite the fact he's looking to fight top competition every 3 months. If he didn't fight BJS, he'd either have to face a due mando, or be stripped, which would reset the whole unification process off again.
How this fight doesn't make sense to some of you is beyond me

That’s because they want it to be fractured. Once there are multiple choices, Canelo can avoid Golovkin. He can grab a belt again, declare himself “The champ” and challenge Mayweather to come out of retirement. There is money to be made for all involved. GGG as another champion (even unified) is an inconvenience. GGG as an undisputed champion is a serious problem. Selling Canelo-Mayweather II without shiny trinklets will result in money loss (or at least lesser turnover).
If BJ is willing to face him why not? That way all the belts are collected. After that I want to see what other excuse the Canelo camp will come up with.
More than likely they will say that now he campaigns at 168 or he is going back down to 154
Saunders last fight against Akavov was an aberration. He was out for a year after the Andy Lee fight with injuries and failed negotiations from his own doing. He ballooned up in weight during the time off before his fight with Akavov and was over 200 pounds 8 weeks before the fight. He was even critical of himself after his fight with Akavov. Since then he's been in the gym, changed trainers and has been sparring with Andy Lee since they have the same trainer now. Andy Lee said that he was very impressed with Saunders skills and hand speed. I think Saunders feels good about fighting GGG now because he's in way better shape than last year.
He ain't Liam Smith that's for sure. Saunders has way better skill and has hand speed. He has the pedigree, former Olympic boxer in the 2008 Beijing Olympics. So yeah, good fight for Triple G before hopefully the Canelo fight.

Saunders didn't look good in his last fight. He admits it. But its not like he's turned to crap all of a sudden. Dude is an undefeated olympian who's a world champion in the pro ranks beating a solid world champion in Andy Lee.
He's switched to working with Adam Booth now, so you know he'll be in excellent shape.
I like the GGG vs BJS fight. I don't think BJS can necessarily win, but it's good competition and good for the division to have an undisputed champ for the first time in ages.
I like the Canelo fight over the BJS fight, but that didn't seem to be the question. I also like the Jacobs rematch if not for the Canelo fight.
Any of those three are good with me.
Booth is a good choice of trainer for BJS. Some people dismiss him as a glorified S&C coach/motivator, but fitness, motivation, and a good game plan - another forte of Booth's - are exactly what BJS needs for this job.
Bill is already a skilled boxer with sound fundamental technique and nobody is going to teach him anything he doesn't already know in the short time available.
BJS' crap performance in his last fight was an aberration. He won't look like that against GGG. I don't think he's going to win, but he has the kind of style to make it an interesting fight, if he doesn't get taken out early.
I thinks it's an interesting fight. Billy Joe is a southie and supposedly has a fair chin. He will consistently be in Southpaw stance and he's very conservative in coming forward against aggressors. I see this as another distance fight, but most importantly in Kazakhstan in the cards, can't see BJS winning. It would be disastrous for Golovkin to lose. If BJS comes on his A game and points it out Olympic style he might have a chance for a fishy card.
However, this fight isn't official yet. K2 is dragging ?
