if you look at the timeline ggg had a fight against lemiuex and then had to wait until the cotto/canelo winner to see if the wbc would mandate the fight. he had alreadyd been mandatory for a year so chances were they were going to do it. wards team took advantage of these facts and that facct that a lot of ward fans are low information fans and would simply belive that any offer that was rejected automatically means its a duck. he knew they wouldnt bother to see the whole picture.

when both guys were available and didnt have fights scheduled ward was not ready to fight.

Ward was asking GGG to sign a contract agreeing to fight him while Golovkin was already mandatory for the WBC title, and the WBC have a rule that a mandatory challenger must have "no contractual restrictions" which may prevent him from fighting for their title when they order the defence to take place, or he loses his position as mando.
