To be fair, Chavez use to be a fatass. I think he can definitely make 165 in good fashion because he hasn't been cutting weight too quickly (= retain more muscle), and of course he has room to spare since they'll drain water weight. I think he'll be quite fit. He seems dedicated as hell this time, and he has knowledgeable men on his team that understand how to cut weight and retain strength efficiently.

It all depends on how the weigh-in cut effects him and how much he can come back from it, the thing they don't know is what the last bit will do to him, they haven't tested it they don't get a practice run its one shot, if they have calculated wrong they can be fcked on fight night, if he doesn't gain the fluids back like Oscar vs Manny ended up weighing less than Manny, if that happens he will get smashed because Canelo is going to be very powerful at this weight, Canelos stamina might be less not being used to carrying the extra weight but he will be as strong as a bull.
Jnr got that typical Heredia look where he is pumped not all drawn whipped out looking, gunna be interesting how he looks at the weighin.Comment

I just hope he can get down to 164.5 okay. He hasn't had to weigh that low since he fought Martinez and I worry if he will hit a wall like at 166 or 165 where his body has nothing else to lose, it's dry as hell. It happens sometimes to boxers where they struggle like hell to lose 1 or 2 more pounds and their body doesn't cooperate to lose that extra pound you need. Hopefully not. I hope he gets down in weight comfortable enough and can rehydrate well.
yea, it is the last couple of pounds that does it
unfortunately..... Jnr's weight will likely be used as an excuse, no matter which way the fight goes
that is why catchweights suck, there is rarely a definitive outcome and often the fight itself proves nothing..... other than maybe, fighter XYZ has an advantage at that particular weight..... like you said, with guys from different divisions a few pounds either way makes all the difference
I don't think anybody would deny that Canelo is a better fighter..... so Jnr's perceived size advantage is really the only factor that brings him into contention
catchweights suck, really
in saying that..... at 160, Canelo stops Jnr..... at 170, Jnr bullies Canelo..... in the middle, not 100% sure
I favor Canelo because of his skills, but I wouldn't bet a dollar on fights like that
if Jnr makes weight ok, he will bring it to CaneloComment
