I mentioned it several times, all judges & referees themselves need to be judged on a point system by the fighters' corners. Highest scored/fairest get the lucrative fights. Lower eventually gets disqualified. Simple.

Yes whatever could go wrong with letting fighters pick the refs.

we need a new judging system

each fighter will appoint his mother as judge

the 3rd judge will be randomly selected from a pool of cheerleaders

all must promise to be unbiased

the winning mother must bake the losing fighter a chocolate cake

all proceeds go to the skimpiest bikini shop, to pay for swimwear for the 3rd judge

Judging in pro boxing is basically whatever the judge says goes. There is no specific universal criteria. You will never fix it without completely changing it. There are lots of robberies in amateur boxing too but at least there's enough criteria to PROVE a judge was wrong.

Who won Golovkin vs Jacobs? Golovkin outlanded him significantly, he pretty much shut him down in jabs and he was the aggressor. People were still giving Jacobs rounds based on movement and perceived activity. If they had been judges they wouldn't be wrong because there's no criteria saying they'd be wrong.

Scoring isn't that big an issue just because kov didn't get the decision ver Ward. There have been far more egregious scores. I do think judges ages should be examined. I think the sport would benefit from younger guys judging.
