Probably Hatton to beat Pacquiao. Unbelievable looking back at it
My logic at the time was that Hatton was still undefeated at LWW and he would be able to out muscle & maul the smaller Pacquiao on the inside & start to land the left to the body.
Lmaoooo I thought the same exact thing.... I did not expect Manny to hurt him as easily as he did either. That was Pac's best ever performance.
Hatton to beat Pacquaio..... man was I wrong about that one. I remember reading all the predictions for a Pacman victory thinking "these guys are sleeping on Ricky's rough inside work"
Yeah, this one. Thought Hatton was too big, too strong.
Tbf, if we were right it would've been an upset. Odds were in Pac's favor, staff predictions were in Pac's favor, boxingscene polls were wayyy in Pac's favor by a long shot too. It's difficult to call upsets, but yeah I was wrong on that one.
I predicted that Arturo Gatti would beat Floyd Mayweather Jr....
/thread
Not that bad, the fight is ridiculed now, but it was legit when it happened...Gatti was #1 ranked at 140 (Tszyu was the champion), had a nice little 3 year run of wins and FOTY candidates, KO'ed Leija right before the Floyd fight, talked himself up of going after Floyd with everything he's got, to the body, head, arms. Floyd was coming off the Bruseles win and he had been visibly hurt vs Corley. So there were some people who thought Gatti would do something. Afterall at the time Gatti was seen as better than Corley. Also at the time, Floyd's last great fighter was Castillo, that was fresh on some people's minds. A lot of writers were saying Floyd has never been hit by someone as "powerful" as Gatti.
If it makes you feel better, Jake Donovan who was BS's best writer, predicted Gatti would win by TKO11.
