Comments Thread For: Loeffler: Canelo Makes More With GGG Than He Did Mayweather

Promoter Tom Loeffler of K2 Promotions, who handle IBF, IBO, WBA, WBC middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin (37-0, 33 KOs), says Saul "Canelo" Alvarez (48-1-1, 34 KOs) would make more money by staging a fight with GGG than with anyone else. He feels Canelo would make even more than he gained back in 2013, in his showdown with Floyd Mayweather Jr. - which generated 2.2 million pay-per-view buys.

Of course Canelo will because he is the A-side of the event. Hell, Canelo may make more than he did against FMJ when he fights Chavez Jr. in May.

Of course dumbazz but the difference is canelo has been part of many successful high selling PPVs, Chavez fight is looking at around 1m PPVs, he already makes way more then GGG does and he's only 26. He doesn't need you to get paid or sell ppvs. GGG is 35 with 2 ppv disasters that flopped. HBO literally won't give him another ppv unless it's with canelo. You need him more then he needs you. Too bad 2 face lying Loeffler doesn't get this because if he did he would agree to the career payday offer on the table and we would all get the fight. Instead he pricing himself out and talking about fairy tale fights in kaza phuk stan instead. And that looks to be blowing up in smoke because he lied and got exposed by saunders.

This is what kills Boxing, dragging fights because of Negotiations. Why isnt boxing strcuture like the UFC?

Canelo also earned it by making himself a headliner and going undefeated since Mayweather. Let's not forget, he was considered a bit green for Mayweather but took the fight anyway.

I dont even care about this fight anymore. They dragged it on way too long and GGG has looked less better his past 2 fights its not as exciting as it was a year ago. Should have made the fight then.

Both of these guys are trying to be the next Mayweather. I'm sure everything they do is carefully calculated to put him the position to accomplish that. The very first step if that is to happen is to fight each other. Whoever wins has the opportunity to take over boxing. Right now it just seem like it's all posturing but no desire to actually make the fight. Atleast Mayweather and Pacquiao was able to be successful on their own. Canelo and Golovkin need each other.

Canelo earned his spot literally taking every fight fans asked for, going up and down weight to land big fights, taking less against ppv stars to make fights...meanwhile look at GGG he's 35 and still makes excuses to turn down big fights refuses to give in weight and prices himself out. His team talks like he's a A side and has A side demands but he doesn't have A side PPV buys.
