where does this narrative come from. watching the fight i see no such thing. he throws and lands more punches in just about every round. he constantly comes forward while ward constantly goes backwards and is forced to clinch and bend over in order to get a break from the pressure. have you seen the clips ive been posting? they are all from a small section from roudns 10-12 and its almost all ward doing illegal things to buy time so i simply dont see what you are saying when i watch the film of the fight.

also watching this fight again most of wards clean shots were actually landed either while fouling or were setup after a foul. some of his tactics include:

clinching then breaking the clinch and throwing a body shot

clinching then when kov attempts to clinch him in return(because he knows ward is going to break the clinch and hit him in the body like he has been doing illegally) he wiggles free and hits kovalev as kov is attempting to counter clinch

bull rushing in to kovalev and when kovalev grabs ward so that he doesnt fall over ward hits him with a body shot

grabbing kov behind the head then when kov tries to break free hitting him in the body

or simply holding with one arm and hitting with the other(often clear lowblows)
