Boxing has always been a poor man's out. A way to get out of poverty. Italians are no longer part of the poverty class in America. They pulled themselves up.

The fact of the matter is, the current "Italian-American generation" is just soft, end of story. They're too busy playing call of duty, while other ethnicity are fighting too survive.

I've never met an Italian in America who wasn't extremely privileged. As a result (in my experience) they all seemed to be whiny, spoiled kids. The type who yell at their mom when they don't get a brand new PS4 or computer when they go shopping with their parents.

in the 50s, 60s, Italians were immigrating from Italy and had to "live that life." Those tougher Italians are all adults now and they raised their kids to be softies.

No offense to any Italians on here, a couple of my good friends are Italians. But they're the exact same way as the ones I just described.

It's going to be the same with the next generation of immigrants who are currently out there fighting, living in poverty, etc. As the immigration from said countries slows down- and those first generation American kids grow up, they will become the same way. It's natural.

back in the 1910s-1940s when italian fighters were more successful, boxing was ran by the MOB and other shady figures

Latinos and black fighters were not given title shots and had to fight for "colored" titles because the titles were either frozen during war time(WWII) or the reigning white champions refused to defend against fighters that were not of European descent

often times they were handcuffed(couldnt press for the ko win) or threw fights to get big paydays

also italians had it rough, immigrating and trying to survive, they were hungrier back then

also it doesnt help that over the last few decades, more and more italians and europeans are turning to mixed martial arts and leaving boxing and traditional martial arts alone.

Willie Pep was a G, he didnt draw no color lines and fought the best.....Lamotta actually fought a couple guys who were apart of black murderer's row...Italians and Italian americans had a lot of greats back in the day!!!

How old are you 12?

Italians migrated in numbers to America from 1890 through 1930. As for boxing participation that started around 1915.

Every ethinic group that came to America had involvement with the sport of boxing and every group also moved on from the sport as they developed their personal skills.
Can't comment on the whinny kids you know it must run in your group of friends however I'm a second generation Italian from Sicily and you may need to meet a few Sicilians that could persuade you to realize their are all "types" from all cultures.
We're known to be quiet yet persuasive.
...."end of story" interesting expression usually associated to the ***ish communities. Who also had great fighters who moved on to a better forecast for healthier lifes.
