Obviously Haymon has a really deep stable of HWs, so there's a lot of potentially good matchups for Ortiz. But at his age I hope they don't let a few years go to waste fighting guys like Kauffman, Arreola and Martin. I'd like him to have 1 or 2 fights against somebody like Mansour or Washington and then let him get in there with Wilder.

Ortiz problem is Dade promotions who bumped heads with golden boy until they had enough and agreed to be bought out for millions. Then the manager says they signed with Hearn and after a few fights Dade promotions comes out talking smack turning down fights and voicing displeasure. And now enter haymon. If Dade finally stops meddling and let's haymon do his job this could work out. But my gut says in short time Dade will start bumping heads with haymon too.

Haymon's model puts the onus on the promoter doing the work of actually promoting the event; Warriors Boxing is basically Haymon's preferred promoter for the Florida territory (Luis Ortiz's likely best market to build a profile), and Warriors Boxing is unlikely to simply put the take with Dade Promotions for doing no work.

If Dade Promotions wants to meddle, Haymon will let them meddle; leave Ortiz to his own devices, wait until Dade Promotions comes forward with a fight worth having, and put the onus on them to shape an event that merits any TV effort from Haymon.

Yup I feel bad Dade got their hooks into him early and it's been promoter drama ever since. Hopefully haymon can stop the trend but at his age he has no more time left to be bouncing around with promoters.

That would be a good move. I don't think Wilder has really gotten over with the fans the way they were hoping so this would be a good opportunity to showcase Ortiz on the undercard as a boogeyman. Winners face each other and if Wilder can beat him, it adds to his cred. Maybe puts him over.

If he loses, they build Ortiz into someone.
