Yup. And they could have made GGG-Canelo right after GGG-Lemieux. Both GGG and Canelo's primes DID overlap. But they refused to. So now they ruined another great fight. They do this every time. Their GREED makes them want to marinate these fights until guys are 32, 33, 34, 35, 36, 37 years old.
The result is, they get more money for the one fight when it happens, but the quality of the fight disappoints everyone, so they don't come back. It allows them to get these peaks of revenue, but the result is it kills the sport overall, and lowers the viewership of the average fight. And then eventually, even the peaks are lower and lower every time. Just look at the PPV sales for every fight since May-Pac. Even the peaks are lower now. They are cannibalizing the sport overall out of greed for each specific mega fight. If they would just have the best fight the best before age 30, maybe 31, 32 at the latest, the fights would be much better and much more meaningful, and fans would return to the sport.
But 33? 33 is not anyone's athletic prime. Look at soccer. Look at basketball. Look at any other sport that requires movement. The speed and stamina is not the same past age 31, 32. So why would anyone pay 70 bucks not to watch the best, but watch some old, past prime fighter? Make the damn fights when the fighters are prime. Spence-Crawford is ready now. Mikey vs Loma is ready now. Mikey vs Thurman is ready now. Thurman vs Spence is ready now. And so on.
GGG vs Floyd has been ready for years. Years. But they're still marinating that ****. It's a joke. They are killing the sport. The only reason PPV fights should be made with someone above the age of 32 is if the fight was not available before then, or if it's heavyweights. Otherwise, there is no excuse. Even Kovalev-Ward, those guys were around fighting on HBO before they were 30. That fight should have happened at least a year before it did. And it goes on and on. They are killing boxing with this. If they want best vs best fights with ENERGY, with action, with sustained combination punching and stamina, the fighters can do that before they hit 32, not after. So stop overmarinating these fights!
Why would Mikey at 135 fight Thurman who's at 147?
Who's asking for that fight? Crawford, I could understand, but Thurman?
I kind of agree, once I saw that Jacobs was at 180 or above on fight night, it kind of changed my opinion on the subject.Comment

Robert Garcia is a good trainer and a smart guy but I think a Golovkin obituary is a bit premature.
It's true he failed to ko Jacobs but I thought Danny fought to survive rather than win.
Against Brook, Golovkin fought reckless, beats Kell down and stops him inside 5 rds and he's criticized for poor defense.
Against Jacobs, Golovkin fights a more careful, disciplined fight against a big puncher, has a kd and wins by decision and he's criticized for winning a close decision.
That's boxing for you.Comment

I agree with the jist of what you're saying, but Floyd/GGG was never gonna happen. Floyd's 40 years old. Why would he at 38/39 years old move up to fight a GGG who was still in his prime?

Who's asking for that fight? Crawford, I could understand, but Thurman?

bull****, jacobs was just that good of an opponent and talks of ggg wearing down is an insult to jacobs performance.. Jacobs prior had only lost once and during a bad time in his life. The jacobs we see now is 10 times better, id put him at number 2 best middleweight in the world.Comment
