A few of Floyd's fights (part of the last 6 contract with Showtime) only got 8 weeks of promotion. So it's definitely possible. And Golovkin v Canelo has been marinading for like a year now, it's not like they need to package it up and sell it. I don't see a problem with a 2 month window. It can be 2.5 months, Golovkin only needs 2 weeks off after demolishing Saunders. He'd wipe the floor with Saunders with a 4 week camp, let's be real here.Comment

i know he was the biggest star back then, but still he wasnt making as much money as big stars do today, oscar, floyd pac they all made ridiculous amounts of money compared to ali, thats exactly my point, the biggest star in sports back then wasnt doing near the money that other stars do today...You dont know what you are talking about. Do you have any idea how popular Ali was? Not just in Mexico or NortAmerica. Ali was a global megastar. Bigger than anyone before or since.
It was the hw championship of the world. Biggest money in sports. Of course its comparable to Canela who isnt even known outside boxing-people.
the business has evolved and promotion is an important part of that...Comment

floyd was only fighting in may and september when he was with showtime... thats exactly the same thing canelo is trying to do...A few of Floyd's fights (part of the last 6 contract with Showtime) only got 8 weeks of promotion. even if we go by your numbers(which im not sure tbh) that was alis biggest purse who was the sports biggest star , compare that to what floyd did vs many and is not even half, fights generate more money now if they are big enough and well promoted...Comment

I'm not Canelo's fan. I know what he claimed, but the Saunders fight isn't signed yet to my knowledge. Wow, he wants all the belts in the weakest division...and yeah, he hits sooooo hard that previously KO'd jacobs made it all 12 just fine with him. Give the hype speech to someone else, we've ALL heard it hereComment

So they didn't need promotion back then? Investors didn't care about the risk of injuries in a preceding fight?i know he was the biggest star back then, but still he wasnt making as much money as big stars do today, oscar, floyd pac they all made ridiculous amounts of money compared to ali, thats exactly my point, the biggest star in sports back then wasnt doing near the money that other stars do today...

Can't argue there. And K2 does it all the time as well. To be honest Oscar used to be good at it but now he's one of the worst offenders. K2 did a good job on the Brook fight. Talk about a BIGTIME crash and burn. They made the best out of a very bad situation. I give ppl sht about the fight but K2 pulled a miracle getting that big of a name soo last minute. I expectd GGG to be put on the shelf or worse fight a scrub just to stay busy. Brook was game his plan was RTard but he was game....you are correct, I dont give a **** about that either. And I dont care about Ward saying he wants to fight a Klitschko. And I dont care about canelo saying "lets fight right now". People run their mouths. SO FRIGGIN WHAT?
The absolute worst thing to ever happen to this sport was when some of the promoters decided that negotiating through the media was a good idea. If a deal makes sense, then make the fight, or if it dont make sense, then dont make the fight. But SHUT THE **** UP ABOUT IT ALREADYComment
