Mak I get your point but its like an "internet depth perception" problem.

We see the names from 10 yrs ago and now they are all finished with their careers so we know they are HOF'ers or not. The new guys are not as established so its hard to judge them.

Besides, Floyd and Mannny took off as the social mediums really blew up. We likely never see 2 guys as big as they were.

Boxing definitely was better back then. Not so much only for Floyd and Manny, but look at that list Joe Calzaghe, Cotto, Winky Wright, the Marquez brothers to go along with May and Pac. I think the quality of fighters was better back then.

Combined the 10 best of those guys I'd put top 5 (no order) Mayweather, Marquez, Pacquaio, Lomachenko, Crawford (please bare in mind Hopkins 2007 was not Hopkins of 2001) and then the next 5 (no order) Calzaghe, Kovalev, GGG, Chocolatito, Hopkins.

So it's about even at the top. Entertainment values I'd say 2007

2007 had Wright and Hatton both of whom were pretty bad to watch and Mayweather was mostly boring and 2017 has Ward and Rigo who are equally dull. 2007 had Rafa Marquez and Vazquez and Marquez and Pacquaio which gives the edge to 2007 for me.

10 years ago was only 2007, i'd say that was a pretty average year, lots of PPV's that year I remember.

The last great list in the 2000s had to be 2002, when Mayweather, Lewis and Mosley were 8, 9 and 10. So you already know what 1 through 7 looked like, with Hopkins and Jones topping out the list.

            Bernard Hopkins
            Roy Jones Jr.
            Marco Antonio Barrera
            Vernon Forrest
            Oscar De La Hoya
            Kostya Tszyu
            Erik Morales
            Floyd Mayweather Jr.
            Lennox Lewis
            Shane Mosley

When P4P was actualy full of fighters with good resumes and not just "the eye test"

              Ofc it was.

Manny, Hops and floyd are genuine atgs.

Calzaghe, JMM, Cotto (prime) and Hatton > any of the current crop and it's not all that close.

Today's list reads like a bad joke. Rigo who hasnt fought a truly elite fighter in 5 years or so, Inoue is a 5 fight or so novice, Loma has probs one truly stand out win and TC has one truly top name in the last 5 fights.

the top 5 is much stronger in my opinion. not much difference between 6-10 though.

                    Yea, it was.

All those guys on the past P4P list were in divisions that were pretty decently hot divisions and they also had resumes to show for.

On today's list, the only one with a respectable resume is Ward and Alvarez but he's become a joke so...
