... outside of Ashley Theophane, what fighters at 140lbs does Floyd Mayweather even have for Ohara Davies to fight? BoxRec has "Two Tanks" rated at #10, so he's basically on the cusp of getting his own world title shot.

Ashley Theophane is 36 years old, after 14 years as a professional boxer and with 4 years working under Floyd's promotional banner (with Floyd able to finally deliver Theophane a world title fight, in the 9 fights that they've worked together on).

Why would Floyd/Ashley agree to a fight against Ohara Davies (a bout that'll likely isn't even co-feature billing on a big Matchroom show), when Floyd can simply work to keep Ashley busy, string together another couple wins, and then leverage that into a fight against someone like Ricky Burns (with or without the world titles, it's still a big fight; were Burns to beat Indongo, he'd be a double champion and Burns-Theophane, as a tickover fight before the move to a possible Crawford unification, would be a fight worth showing on both sides of the Atlantic, with a payday well beyond what's likely been offered for Davies)?

It's not a bad angle to go for, facing a Mayweather guy. His last fight was against a guy well known to UK fight fans, he had that Mayweather spat, then there is the attitude he has on Twitter etc. So he's trying to build his profile.
