Why does GGG have to take everyone out at 160 multiple times, no one else? And then he gets no credit for it because the other guys, while elite talents, never did **** in the ring to prove it before fighting him, so suddenly everyone gets surprised. I mean at least Jacobs took out Quillin, that was something, but unlucky for both him and GGG, it happened so quick that no one knew how good that really meant Jacobs was.
I'm up for a rematch, with a normal weigh-in this time of course, but preferably Jacobs could take out Jermall Charlo or someone like that first so that it proves to everyone what a high caliber opponent he is, and what a good matchup this is. Otherwise the matchup will not get the credit it deserves. GGG is hard at work bringing the credibility to his fights, going after every belt, plus Canelo. Why can't Jacobs do the same? He doesn't need to beat two guys before the rematch, like GGG is planning on with Canelo and Saunders, but even if you can't match GGG, is at least one guy too much to ask? And not someone GGG already beat. Go take out Degale at a catch weight, or Charlo or hell even Lara since people say Lara is so great, then rematch GGG.
Actually that's what I want to see. Since all the haters say Lara would beat GGG, I want to see Lara fight 182 pounds Jacobs with the same reach as him, similar speed, and way, way more power, see Lara get knocked out, and that way people will understand how good Jacobs is, and how good GGG is that he beat this guy at his peak.
THAT is what would sell the rematch the best. GGG takes out Canelo, Jacobs takes out the guy who almost beat Canelo Lara, and then GGG and Jacobs rematch. With a normal weigh-in this time. 330 pm, not 6am.
I think this is the most well thought out comment I have ever read on this site... Unfortunately that doesn't mean as much as it could since there is so many dip****s on here, haha... I totally agree with you though and couldn't have said it any better!!
Anyone take the time to rewatch the fight on HBO last night? I usually don't rewatch fights but I thought it was close the first time around and wanted to take a closer look. I had GGG by 1, the knockdown, first time around. This time I watched the fight by myself, no distractions, etc. It was a competitive fight, but it was not really that close. Jacobs looked flashy at times, but he wasn't landing. The bulk of his punches were hitting gloves, forearms, or air. The major difference in the fight was that power jab of Golovkin. He landed it all night long. I think most people, including myself, were guilty of giving Jacobs rounds because he did better than expected. If you remove that bias from the fight and watch closely you can plainly see he wasn't landing too much, was on his backfoot much of the fight, was outlanded in, I believe, 9 of 12 rounds. He was knocked down in the fourth, and visibly buzzed a few other times. With still giving the very close rounds to Jacobs I came out with 115-112 for Golovkin. Could be a larger spread if you give a swing round or two to Golovkin. Understandably, Jacobs manager has a large bias here. But talking trash after they beat your guy fair and square, paid him more than he technically deserved, and helped raise his profile, is pretty low.
GGG's team is about as dumb as a bread box!!! He had the audacity to say that Saunders is his dream fight! GTFOH!!!
He made 2.4mil last week and was offered 15mil straight up and refuse Canelo.
His PPV numbers are in the toilet!!
GGG needs to forget about everybody and agree to fight Canelo after he beats the lazy Chavez. He should sign a contract asap to secure Canelo in sept. take the 15mil straight as the B side and then if he beats Canelo then he becomes the A side with all negotiating power!! He's going on 35 yrs old and is making less than he should be!
Golovkin said Saunders is his dream fight because he will unify the MW division when he beats Saunders. This has been his dream since the beginning so not really surprising.
