WBO world middleweight champion Billy Joe Saunders (24-0, 12 KOs) says he is ready to become the number one fighter at 160-pounds. To earn that position, he needs to defeat WBA super, IBO, WBC and IBF king Gennady "GGG" Golovkin (37-0, 33 KOs). Golovkin fought last Saturday night at Madison Square Garden in New York City, and won a tough twelve round unanimous decision over mandatory challenger Daniel Jacobs.

Willie Monroe tried to be "cute".. GGG cuts the ring and forces you out of your comfort zone. he couldn't just walk in on Jacobs because he respected the power and handspeed but Saunders won't be getting the same respect. he'll be able to pot shot and box circles for a few rounds but GGG ultimately hunts him down.

We all know Billy Hoe is cashing out but let's be realistic. Danny Jacob or Lemieux would blast him out. GGG will just walk him down. The KO streak will start again.

I honestly think this fight will happen in June... Initially I thought Saunders was going to cash in/out against Canelo... I felt Canelo would pay Saunders more and pose a somewhat easier fight... Not that Saunders would beat Canelo, but rather Saunders would take less of a butt kicking with Canelo than with GGG...

But now I'm getting the vibe that Saunders understands that despite the fact that Canelo will be a greater overall Revenue generator... Canelo isn't likely sharing very much of that big piece of pie...

Fighting GGG in a smaller overall revenue generating fight, but might still give Saunders more money because the Golden Boy low balls everyone he can...
Therefore a fight with GGG offers more **** of the bucks and the added bonus of potentially becoming the Undisputed middleweight champion of the world holding All 4 major belts, should Saunders pull off the very unlikely upset...

More money and potentially all 4 belts Trumps a low-ball offer vs Canelo despite having a notably larger audience...

That's my spin as to why Saunders is choosing to fight Triple G over Canelo, it's the only thing that makes the most sense...

the only thing that can prevent this fight is golovkin team ditch him to "respect" canelo offer

the Jacobs fight has posed more confidence for any top 10 Middleweight against Golovkin.

In 2016 everybody was saying that K2 couldn't afford Saunders' purse... that Canelo could only offer that. However in the middle of 2016 I made a post stating that the Expo 2016 was the ideal medium and sponsor for a good 3 years that could easily back up any Saunders purse. Weeks later we get industry articles about ''What About Kazakhstan Expo...!!''

So K2 didn't have an excuse that they couldn't afford Saunders anymore. Also K2 is an investor for their star. They have the right to have doubt for future bouts after the Jacobs bout. This is why belt priority is highly important. It might be that they might not even break Hopkins record and they must rely on mandatories if the Canelo or other top fighters are in the narrative.

First we have to see Saunders signing the contract.

Saunders is a better boxer than most think, but if you are going to fight on the backfoot against ggg you need some power to stop him walking straight forward and saunders doesnt have that.
