I got a feeling Ward is gonna get punished next time against Kovalev. What the fk does Ward care about what Kovalev is making for the fight? Sign the fking contract and honor your rematch clause or retire already. Nobody will be talking about this guy in 5 years if he retired right now.

I mean Ward is a money guy so this is meaningful for him. But Kovalev was fighting for opportunities, housing & ramen or whatever for a couple years before he got with Main Events. Kovalev doesn't seem at all like a guy who's fighting or not fighting based on the numbers on a piece of paper like Ward is. An argument can be made for both sides. I just don't think Kovalev can afford to fight at a faster pace. What if he fails to stop Ward again? He was pretty tired in the first fight.

Oh yea I don't think Ward is an a$$hole or anything like that here. I definitely think he's trying to play a character & largely the character the media & fans made him out to be ironically enough. I just think its bad sh^t talking I guess lol. I mean I think he's such a nice solid dude trying to be some bad guy or sh^t talker just doesn't come easily to him.

I've mentioned this sorta thing before when I talk about I think more boxers should take on a bad guy role as its a underutilized angle to use in this sport. But I also acknowledge its not a thing anyone can pull off. And Ward doesn't appear to pull it off well & doesn't seem to know the hits to take...at least yet.

If I was him & taking this approach I'd take a more US vs Russian type angle & Rocky IV Ivan Drago this promotion up. I think thats ripe right now. He could also angle in some racial sh^t with Kovalev's controversial racial posting history lol, but that might be a bit more of a muddied road to take for a sh^t talking noob or just in general or not to Ward's personality at all. Although bringing up racial stuff has worked for Tyron Woodley a lil bit in the UFC who like Ward is a perfect f#cking gentlemen but fans hate him for dumb reasons all the same.
