I've always thought there was a strong possibility that Canelo would fight Lemieux to test himself against a GGG opponent before stepping in the ring with GGG himself. With Lemieux being promoted by Oscar it made too much sense.

Unfortunately I thought this would happen instead of Canelo/Khan, then Canelo/Smith, and now Canelo/Chavez.

...enough is enough. It is time for the megafight the fans want to happen. I think Oscar would have been smart to gauge Canelo against Lemieux before now but I guess with Lemieux's power it was too risky in his mind.

Canelo should test the waters at full MW vs a top 10 ranked MW, i've always said this. Lemiuex would be an okay test. Lemiuex has no jab though, which won't really prepare Canelo for GGG, who has a good jab. But at least Lemiuex has power and is an actual MW and he's a common opponent of GGG, imagine the hype behind Canelo-GGG is Canelo demolishes Lemiuex earlier than GGG did. Maybe it's for the better that Canelo vs GGG happens in May 2018 and GGG fights Saunders in June, and a third guy later this year, probably a mando like the N'Dam-Murata winner. Hopefully not Tureano Johnson or Sebastian Heiland.

I think people are being irrational when they say GGG-Saunders in June does not affect Canelo-GGG in September. It very clearly changes things. Doesn't matter what side are you on, you should acknowledge that it does changes things in different ways.

At the end of the day, when Canelo/GGG finally goes down and we see a Golovkin that is past his prime, no one but Golden Boy and Canelo will be left to blame.
Unifying a strong division is great. But no one really cared about belts before GGG. Belts were seen as a joke. No one will be talking about Billy Joe Saunders or David Lemiuex, or Nilson Julio Tapia 10 years from now. We all know what wanting to be great actually looks like, people saying what GGG is doing is him wanting greatness are kidding themselves. I'll give you a hint, what Brook did, fighting GGG, that's an attempt at being great.

I hope Chavez KOs the redhead bum - at least Chavez won't be afraid to fight Golovkin.

Officially over this fight now and don't care if it gets made in 2018. Hope Golovkin moves on too.
Yes, Jr. has recently said he'll fight Golovkin, but didn't he too duck him a few years back, rejecting like $7.1 million?

i braced myself a while ago, i told people in 2016 that theres no chance canelo fights him in 2017 and i got abuse hurled my way as per usual for suggesting that. i swear this forum is full of the most naive people going, people just thinking its a few negotiating hurdles to get over, no theres one pretty big ****ing hurdle and that hurdle is canelo/his disgusting cross dressing coked up whore of a promoter not wanting the fight to happen. hes not going anywhere near golovkin until hes completely shot, and its pathetic. whys he need to fight lemiuex to test the waters, as far as i was aware hes fighting chavez who is even heavier. just excuses and more excuses, the thing is people will buy this nonsense and defend them, and blame it on ggg for wanting to fight 3 times a year not two, that will get turned into a bad thing by his haters.

That 155 catch-weight is looking real good right now! That $15 million flat-fee is looking real good right now! Hindsight is 20/20!

Now that Jacobs exposed him (and got robbed), Triple Flop knows he can't phuck with Canelo. Canelo stops him in less than 5 rounds. Let's bet our homes... Oh, I forgot, you don't have one. Now phuck off and come at me when you get on my level.
why should ggg accept a flat rate? fish nets is taking a page from the mayweather book when he offered 40 mil to manny, just all bs

but according to this article, all triple g has to do is not fight in June and fish nets will make the fight correct?

I like this fight and I'm rooting for the underdog, Lemieux, just as I rooted for Jacobs and would do the same for GGG's next opponents. I'm a real fan, not a fake fan whose only purpose for being fans of the sport is to discredit fighters they don't like. Nah.

I'm also rooting for Chavez Jr.

It might but at the end of the day I have Canelo by KO. And I'm not a fan of either but respect both.
